Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) declared that roughly 'a third' of all Republicans would leave the party if GOP senators team up with Democrats to impeach President Donald Trump as the lame duck president seeks to punish the 10 Republican representatives that voted for impeachment.
Speaking with Fox News host Laura Ingraham Friday, Paul claimed that efforts to impeach Trump after he incited the mob last week were 'purely a partisan thing.'
'I didn't agree with the fight that happened last week, and I voted against overturning the election,' Paul said.

One third? A conservative estimate for sure.
Rand is right, and wrong at the same time. He is right that Republican voters will not vote for R’s in the next election, but he’s way off on the one third number, and likely the numbers will be far greater.
I don’t give a rat’s arse if Cornrow or Kevin Brady got down on their knees and begged forgiveness, I’d never vote for either one of them again.......matter of fact I haven’t voted for Cornrow in his last 2 elections!!!!!! We’re trying to get the word out over here.....2022 will lay the groundwork for 2024 and the revamped Republican Party or the New Patriot Party to welcome President Donald J. Trump back to finish what he started. Don’t give me any grief about what I just said....I’m in a kiss my arse and go to hell moment......thank you
I am one of Paul and McConnell’s constituents and I have ALREADY LEFT the Republican party JUST LAST WEEK for this very thing. First time as an independent since 1985.
One third sounds low.
I think we’ve already left.
They have probably lost more than a third as a result of the election fraud.
And nothing will change for McConnel, he’ll still get a paycheck or what ever he wants. He’s a uniparty politician, not a republican.
Definitely low balled that one...
yeah i dont know where Rand got that small number
The people at the Capitol who went over the bike-rack type fence and especially the ones who went into the Capitol could be called a mob but President Trump was not speaking to them.
I left also.
Sounds about right to me. So if Trump got 75 million people to vote for him, in the next election it will be around 50 million if a RINO, lets say, Nikki Haley ends up running for President.
Their are aspects of Rand Paul’s policy preferences that I do not agree with. But I do have to appreciate that he is one of the most serious and thoughtful legislators we have in the Senate.
Bye the way, in your local area what do your more conservative friends think of the Trump-Biden election and its aftermath? I anticipate you non-conservative acquaintances are all against Trump but I am not speaking of them.
Democrats won’t even have to cheat the next time.
They are starting to call the capital protests the “Capital Insurrection” now.
They are telegraphing a massive law-enforcement purge against recalcitrant Republicans.
That’s conservative.
Is that a third of the 10% that are still there?
Agreed... more like 70% that leave... 30% that stay
