When all the players are substandard, making them profitable is a Herculean task. The better move would be to break up into small entities, declare bankruptcy to get rid of bad contracts and assets, then start over. But, they have probably made themselves too big to fail, meaning endless bailouts and subsidies. Lots of bonuses for little or no work.
Chrysler is fantastic. Best trucks fastest, coolest cars. What are you talking about? Electric?
Peugeot and Fiat both make crappy clown cars, to bad they tarnish the good name of Chrysler.

Sure.
In essence, production and its means will be controlled by government. It is authoritarian. Those that oppose it through traditional capitalism will be squashed. Small businesses are one of many targets to be eliminated. Peoples individual freedoms are another target, since free speech becomes the enemy of authoritarians.
A new term needs to be coined for this. It is not classical fascism, since it does not have ultra-nationalism at its core. This is global fascism. A new single-word moniker is required.

Governments worldwide are mandating transitions to electric cars.
All auto makers suck at making electric cars.
Except Tesla.
Which is valued at three quarter trillion dollars.
Others must get their act together fast, or face oblivion.
I’ve seen several world class juggernaut companies disappear after new tech disrupts their core competency. Auto makers are not an exception.
That was my thought, merging two losers. Understand that there needs to be consolidation in the auto industry, but this just postpones the locking of the doors.
Yes, the regulations and mandates force companies to consolidate and seek scale to survive.
Then, as those companies are such large employers, they get bailouts, loan guarantees and other incentives to keep empty factories open.
When they can no longer function, these companies becomes property of gov’t and socialism is achieved.
Government is mandating electric cars. According to industry experts, there isn’t enough generating capacity to support it, where will we get the electricity?
Whatever happened to Mercedes....couldn't deal with the communist union thugs?
