Pennsylvania reported 6,047 new COVID-19 infections on Friday, a hopeful sign the state won’t see a repeat of the December surge that brought twice that number of new infections daily.
The state reported 215 deaths — a relatively high figure but, since people usually die weeks after being infected, one that’s likely a delayed result of the earlier surge.
As of Friday morning, 4,848 people were hospitalized with COVID-19, another downward trend and well below the December peak when more than 6,300 were hospitalized.
Still, state health officials this week continued to stress the need to wear face masks, avoid large gatherings and wash hands frequently to prevent spread of COVID-19. The state has vaccinated roughly 400,000 people, mostly health care workers and nursing home residents, but still has a long way to go to protecting all of its most vulnerable residents, and is possibly months away from offering vaccine to everyone.
The new infections bring Pennsylvania’s total to 754,611 lab-confirmed or probable cases since the start of the pandemic nearly a year ago. Experts say 25-40 percent of people who test positive have no symptoms but still can infect others. The new deaths bring the total to 18,957, with most involving people over 65.
Hospitalizations down 20%+ from the December 23 peak of 6151 and daily deaths down nearly 50% from the December 30 peak of 319.
Cause for celebration? NOoooooo...gotta breathlessly report that hospitalizations are "double that of the spring".

Of course they fell. COVID will be cured in 5 days. Will turn out the HQL and Vitamin C actually was the correct choice, but Trump refused to listen to his people at CDC and insisted on vaccinations.
Wow! The messiah has arisen Joe Biden will cure the Covid the economy etc. wait for it people wait for it.What a sham! We all knew it was a hair on fire hoax by the media. Every day pounding it in our heads that millions were dying because of Trump letting the virus in the nation. Our local TV station constantly beating the 🥁 every evening quoting corona deaths, infected and recovery but guess which one got more coverage! This is insane I don’t know how we’re going to cope four years of this crap and maybe even all the way to eight years. I hate the mediaVomits with a cold black passion!
No reason those over 50 should not be vaccinated in the next 6 weeks, unless the Governor is inept.
The only thing Tommie the Commie Wolf does efficiently is send his gestapo to bars to make sure that customers are wearing masks while entering, leaving, peeing, and pooing.

I took NyQuil every night when I had Covid. It was like a very mild flu. I didn’t even stay in bed. The hospital took 10 days to give me the Positive result. By that time I was over it.
Imagine that.
Suddenly COVID lockdowns need to be over, case rates are dropping, all just in time for biden to be “inaugurated”.
