The estimate, based on scientific modeling, means officials believe more than 3 million of L.A. County’s 10 million residents have been infected with the coronavirus, including nearly 13,000 who have died.
That’s more than triple the cumulative number of coronavirus cases that have been confirmed by testing. Officials have long believed that testing only captures a certain percentage of those who are infected because many with the virus don’t show symptoms or suffer only mild symptoms.
The rising number of those infected has actually slowed the pace of coronavirus transmission, as the virus is increasingly coming into contact with people who have survived the infection and likely developed immunity.
L.A. County averaged more than 15,000 new coronavirus cases a day over the past week — one of the highest such rates seen so far in the pandemic.
Surpassing 15,000 new coronavirus cases a day takes the county to a level that officials have warned may tip L.A. County’s overwhelmed hospitals into a worse catastrophe, straining resources and stretching staffing to a point that healthcare officials may have to choose which patients receive the attention of critical care nurses and respiratory therapists and access to ventilators and which patients receive palliative care.

Hmmm....lived here over 70 years. I still do nit kniw =anyone who has Covid. I did meet two that HAD IT IN the past.
Hope everyone is well and remains that way.
I know no one here in LA County who was infected.
If 1/3 have been infected that means more than three million.
13000 deaths.
0.4% death rate.
Not going out much, washing my hands, and use hand sanitizer if I do go out. Figure, why take chances?
must be bodies everywhere
I figure that sooner or later everybody is going to get it.
It is likely that thousands more have had it and didn’t know it.
Great news! Soon they’ll have herd immunity. A thinned herd to be sure.
What % of these stats come from illegals from Mexico and South of Mexico?
I wonder how many of them dined at the French Laundry...
(the ‘ittle people’ aren’t supposed to do that, and probably can’t; but they still have to eat.)
That’s pretty fortunate. I know 4 people that have died of it and quite a number that have had it. Then again, I know a number of people.
And that number is correct, why? Because they said so?
Bring out your dead!
I had it. Thought it was allergies. Only reason I was tested is because my employer required it. I did have a mild headache for about three days and unusual fatigue, but nothing I court couldn’t handle and go about my day.
I could have gone about business as usual, but I isolated to keep anyone else from getting it. I assume my wife and kids had it. They sounded stuffy for a few days. No fever, no chills, no “dry cough,” no anything serious for any of us.
I know a few, relatives included, who have come down
with the virus...Two who most likely got it from their
spouse, tested either inconclusive, or negative.
Not that I believe the numerator or denominator, but that is 0.3% death rate. The flu is 0.1%.
How many are/were illegals? Stand by, Cali. President Obiden has a gift for you....
Since the flu is now disappeared ... that means 0.1% are really flu and can be subtracted from the 0.4% or so. Leaving 0.2 to 0.3% for covid.
About twice the flu.
Makes sense for a new bug that will eventually be just like a new flu.
Thanks, China.
Heard the same claim going back to April. Heard the same claim about Sweden too. Good thing I didn't hold my breath for either.
