Lindsey Graham said he fears that convicting Donald Trump could lead to the impeachment of former presidents such as George Washington as he blasted the 'outrageous misconduct' of Congress.
The Republican senator broke with the President last week, refusing to join a Trump-backed effort to contest Joe Biden's electoral college win as the vote was being certified by Congress in the hours after the MAGA riot.
'All I can say is count me out, enough is enough,' Graham told his Senate colleagues then. 'When it's over it is over.'

The purpose is to make liberals feel good about themselves.
And so they can say to their demented friends: “Look at me.”
I predict an amendment requiring a 60% vote in the house to depoliticise impeachment.

It’s political theater. I read that Nancy wore the same dress for yesterday’s impeachment that she had worn for her first triumph. Must be her lucky dress.
Also, the Dems changed the rules on House speech and behavior for two weeks, specifically for those to bills (impeachment). This permitted them to say things about Trump (racist, etc.) during their fever dream impeachment proceedings to that are normally not permitted on the House floors. It’ll go back to the old standards after Biden gets in.

I think he may be addressing a bigger picture whether or not he realizes it. It’s the rewriting of history. The liberal institutions are still viewing the sham 1619 Project as history rather than the fiction it is. Impeaching former Presidents, including long since dead Presidents, puts an official political stamp of approval on such rewriting.
Impeach Obama a dozen times
I have been saying the same thing. How can you impeach/convict a former President, i.e., a private citizen? Is there a statute of limitations? Obama would be a prime candidate.
