Rep. Liz Cheney Rejects Calls to Resign from GOP Leadership: ‘I’m Not Going Anywhere’

House Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney (R-WY) on Wednesday rejected calls to resign from her leadership post — prompted by her support for impeaching President Donald Trump over last week’s riots at the U.S. Capitol.

“I’m not going anywhere,” Cheney told Politico reporter Melanie Zanona. “This is a vote of conscience. It’s one where there are different views in our conference.”

Well, two choices, the easy way or the hard way. Either way, your choice.

Everyone should lean on their Congresscritters to get this person out of leadership. She’s entitled to her views and her conscience, even if I strongly disagree with them - but that does NOT give her a right to be the #3 Republican in the House, having a significant impact on Party positions and activities.

Get this haridan out of leadership!!!

What about losing her position in the house. Isn’t she number 3?

The republican party is allowing the democrats to destroy them alongside Trump

Not allowing destruction, they are merging with the Democrats. This has been going on since long before Trump showed up but now with Trump on his way out, they are doing it openly and with defiance. In your face.

She reminds me of one of my local politicians who said in a newspaper interview that she would remain in office as long as she knew she could do the job better than anyone else.

She was defeated soundly in the next election. Apparently voters wanted to let her know that THEY would decide how long she remained in office.

The same should apply to Cheney. She thinks she’s invincible and not to be questioned about anything. I suggest that members of the Republican caucus should oust her and take her down a few pegs.

The problem is that you also then can’t vote in any Republican primaries. Florida is a closed state.

// The problem is that you also then can’t vote in any Republican primaries. Florida is a closed state. //

-AND-

// Some of us don’t have the option. Not if we want to be able to primary some of these *uckers.

Not all states allow the ability to vote outside your “party” in the primaries.//
-----------------------------------------------

That's true, and an important point for anyone in a CLOSED PRIMARY STATE as FL is to consider. Unfortunately I didn't put it into body of original thread so everyone could see & consider their situation & chosen path. I did address it in my comments: in FL can make change within 29-30 days of election to vote R.

PresbyterianReporter understood: // In the next 20 months you leave the GOP wondering how you will vote. // - - - YEP, BINGO.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE: This is NOT true in TX, acc wardamneagle in #47

For those in Texas.....

How can I change my party affiliation?

After affiliating with a party by voting in a party’s primary or by taking an oath of affiliation with a party, a voter cannot change their party affiliation during the calendar year. (§162.010)

However, affiliation will automatically expire at the end of the calendar year.

It's important to know what your state regs are.

Everybody:
Call the RNC (202-863-8500) and tell them to stop bugging you for donations that will help the likes of Cheny and Kinzinger get reelected.

It’s time to make the Republican party the Whig party.
