Maybe. I was thinking about Churchill. Many blame his loss in 1945, for attacking Labour as Socialists, and specifically referring to them as the "Gestapo" so soon after the war had ended. That did not sit well, even with many of his fellow Tories. So they lose the election, and everybody thought Churchill was finished.
He was back at 10 Downing Street in 1951.
No they were asking him to adhere to the rules set forth by the constitution. He did not. He knew the electors from the Sox states were not legal as they were sent up by the governers and NOT their legislatures as required by the constitution. Not only did pence stab the president in the back. He was the one who pulled the trigger in negating the Constitution.
Part of it was also the background process that removed the alternate electors’ votes from ever making it to Pence
The Electors’ votes go to either the Library of Congress or the National Archives, routed there by an Act I don’t recall the name of right now from the late 1800s. They are kept there and only the votes considered valid from the states continues to the Vice President. Therefore, Mike never saw alternate votes to select—he could only set argued votes aside with what he got.

Who the hell cares if Pence stalling for a little more time would have changed anything it probably wouldn’t have but it would have highlighted the cheating and not have Pence betraying Trump the way he did ...he could have gone out as a decent person trying his best to be loyal to Trump it would have been no skin off his nose
