Global COVID-19 herd immunity is unlikely to be achieved this year — even as countries race to administer vaccines, the World Health Organization’s chief scientist warned this week.
Dr. Soumya Swaminathan said Monday it’s critical that countries still encourage social distancing and other public health measures for the foreseeable future.

Really, not even a vaccine is good enough, WTF is that? It’s 2021, I’m not doing the mask right now. If it means getting thrown out of restaurants and grocery stores, OK, whatever. For the grocery store, I’ll just have my wife continue to click-list it and I’ll stop popping by the deli for lunch. 2% of my county has gotten Covid since Feb. 2020 and of those that have had it, 0.3% have died (and it’s not some little hick town, my county’s population is 260,000). If they want to stop me from going hiking, good luck fencing off the 400 mile perimeter of Utah’s west desert. They’ll have to arrest my ass. They tried and failed last year in screwing me out of Spring Break at a state park in central Nevada.
There’d better be a cop in every storefront to enforce it. They won’t.
