PBS Fires Former Employee Following Project Veritas Video Exposing ‘Hateful Rhetoric’

PBS is distancing itself from a former employee featured in a Project Veritas video who appeared to defend violent attacks on the White House, proposed re-education for the children of President Donald Trump supporters, and praised the COVID-19 deaths of GOP voters.

“This employee no longer works for PBS,” a PBS spokesperson told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “As a mid-level staff attorney, he did not speak on behalf of our organization, nor did he make any editorial decisions.”

“There is no place for hateful rhetoric at PBS, and this individual’s views in no way reflect our values or opinions,” the spokesperson said. “We strongly condemn violence and will continue to do what we have done for 50 years — use our national platform and local presence to strengthen communities and bring people together.”

PBS did not clarify to the DCNF whether the employee was fired as a result of the video. Project Veritas tweeted Tuesday afternoon that former PBS principal counsel Michael Beller had been fired.

Project Veritas published a video Tuesday that allegedly shows Beller saying, “We go for all the Republican voters and Homeland Security will take their children away…we’ll put them into the re-education camps.”

Another clip shows Beller allegedly discussing “enlightenment camps,” saying, “They’re nice, they have Sesame Street characters in the classrooms, and they watch PBS all day.”

“Americans are so f*cking dumb,” Beller allegedly said in the video. “You know, most people are dumb. It’s good to live in a place [Washington, D.C.] where people are educated and know stuff. Could you imagine if you lived in one of these other towns or cities where everybody’s just stupid?”

The video also shows Beller allegedly saying, “What’s great is that COVID is spiking in all the red states right now. So that’s great…a lot of them [red state voters] are sick and dying.”

It’s still unclear if Beller was speaking in his own voice, interpreting how GOP voters feel, or recounting something he’d heard.

Now, PBS must explain how such a crackpot was hired in the first place. Weird folks.

Apparently he is a mid-level Principal Counsel. I’d like to see that organizational chart. When was he fired?

Never happen. How will they listen to classical music? There’s only hundreds of hours of it on the internet for free.

“This was a private conversation. He did nothing to actually accomplish those ridiculous ideas.”

How do we know that? Maybe he did some ‘selective editing’ to turn people against Trump, or make his voters (us) look like nutcases, needing re-education.

While it would certainly be ‘nice’ to think he looks at Trump, his family, and us as the ‘loyal opposition’, remember that most Jews in Germany felt the same about Hitler, while ignoring his words...until it was too late.

You may not like it, but it is within their rights to do so.

“Good. If he had a 401k he should thank Trump for it going up big over the last few years.”

And he should cash it in now because once Biden/Harris get in 401ks and IRAs will become a memory. Ever hear of Teresa Ghilarducci? She is the “go-to” economist for the left.

No doubt. I wonder how long it will take for the market to dump. May actually be a good time to buy gold and silver. I been in the jewelry business for 30 years. Never recommended to buy it as investment because there has been no rhyme or reason since the war for it to stay high and bounce around with the stock market setting all time highs for 3 years. Should have dropped a while back.

It’s within my rights to fart in your face as I walk by your chair, but is it moral?

In some ways I wish PBS said FU and kept him.

This guy’s only “sin” is getting caught on tape. He said exactly what the rest of them believe.

I’d actually rather have straight up like that black loon biden wants at the DOJ, rather than the fake “diversity” and endless double standards.

PBS fired him twice? Anyway, PBS should fire everyone who works for PBS. PBS should fire itself wholesale. NPR is even more hateful and should be fired by Americans everywhere.

“It’s within my rights to fart in your face as I walk by your chair, but is it moral?”

Management cares about the company’s “brand” and “reputation” insofar as those things affect the value of the company. If an employee’s outside activity or speech attracts attention that reflects poorly on the company’s brand or reputation, thereby causing the value of the company to decline, then management is going to restrict that activity or speech. It’s not an issue of morality.

"You may not like it, but it is within their rights to do so."

Just because employers are being allowed to fire employees based on their creed, that doesn't make it legal.

But because the left is getting away with it, conservative employers should root out and fire all lefties, especially the sneaky ones. But only do it when you know for sure, bosses.

"Proof that many in the GOP don’t mind being a opposition part."

That's why I won't be voting ever again. I don't care if somebody picks Jesus as their running mate. I'm done throwing my vote away. I've lived in NY State my whole life, and I'm too old to move to any other State. I have one son who lives 2 hours away, and another who lives in Indiana. I figured my votes have been cancelled out for a while now, what with all the voter fraud that the Democrats have committed over the years. The fact that the majority of the Republicans voted to sanction unlimited voter fraud, and disenfranchised 80 million Trump voters, then the Republican Party doesn't deserve my vote at all. I'm 73, the last one left in my family. The oldest lived to 74. 2020 could have been the last time I ever get to vote in a Presidential election, and my vote could have been cancelled. I'm done. The GOP is dead to me. I'm just going to sit back and watch all those Republican smart a$$es who stabbed us in the back, get picked off one-by-one by the same voter fraud they voted to validate.
