Verizon Will Suspend Donations to Lawmakers Who Opposed Biden Certification

WASHINGTON (REUTERS) - U.S. wireless carrier Verizon Communications will suspend donations by its political action committee to lawmakers who did not back the certification of President-elect Joe Biden's victory last week, a spokesman told Reuters.

AT&T Inc announced a similar move earlier on Monday.

And those lawmakers are no longer obligated to protect Verizon’s interests in Congress. Win-win.

The fact is different from the headline.   Verizon is only saying that they will stop donating to anyone who did not vote to certify Biden.   That does not mean they are preventing others from donating the way the headline seems to imply.

AT&T announced they won’t give money either. I’m sure TMobile/Sprint is not far behind. This is so crazy. Comcast has done the same. Ugh!

Another option for you fringe-area folks is . . . . don’t build your life around a smartphone. My retirement BOL has zero signal, and I find I don’t miss the nasty little gadget at all. Have a cheap TracFone in the car for road emergencies, that’s all. I have to remember to charge it once a week or so because it never gets turned on.

Internet is Hughes satellite, which weaned me off of video, too. Sanity has returned. I read dead tree books now. Much more information per $$$, and unfiltered by Big Tech. The absence of corporate mind control in my life is seriously wonderful.

I bought the phone when I was with Verizon. Pure Talk sent me a new SIM card so I could join their service. It really was a smooth transition.

That’s correct. That is why Pure Talk can provide good quality service. I know AT&T sucks too politically, but most big companies do these days. At least with Pure Talk I’m paying a lot less for phone service.
