A media company that employs right wing talk-radio hosts, including Mark Levin, Dan Bongino, and Ben Shapiro, circulated a memo after the pro-Trump riots on Capitol Hill telling hosts to dial down allegations of election fraud, or else face termination.
Cumulus Media sent the internal memo to employees on Wednesday, according to Inside Music Media. The Atlanta-based company owns 416 radio stations throughout the country, many using a talk-radio format with local and national right-wing personalities.
“We need to help induce national calm NOW,” Cumulus’s executive vice president of content Brian Philips wrote in the memo. The company “will not tolerate any suggestion that the election has not ended. The election has been resolved and there are no alternate acceptable ‘paths.’”
Philips added, “If you transgress this policy, you can expect to separate from the company immediately.”

Having worked in the salt mines of broadcasting (before regaining my senses and embarking on a military career), I can assure you this is 100% accurate.
The worst owner I worked for was the last one. Little jerk who inherited the station from his father (his brother got the better deal, he was given the local cable TV franchise).
Our station owner couldn’t manage a fart after a baked bean dinner, but he was in charge. Allowed our morning guy (local institution, but ratings had been dropping for years) to come to work with a sack of beer under his arm each morning. Morning host proceeded to consumer that beer on the air and when nature called, he took a leak out the door of the transmitter room adjacent to the studio, because it was too far to walk to the bathroom. Never mind that the exterior door was visible from the highway, and we’d often get honks from passing motorists as the morning guy answered nature’s call. He was also rude and nasty to other members of the staff, but that was okay, since he’d been hired by the owner’s father, and was “practically a member of the family.”
Apparently, the host needed more beer money (or the owner wanted to boost his profits), because I got the axe about a year into the job, along with the sports guy and the evening DJ (I was a news anchor and reporter). Got the usual stuff about “moving in a different direction” and that was fine by me. Drove to the Air Force recruiting station and the rest, as they say, is history.
I know a few guys who tried to stick it out in the broadcasting business, and for most, it’s been a hard slog. Automation, voice tracking and the emergence of huge radio companies have eliminated thousands of jobs, and the rush by many of them to go private generated billions in debt and put even more pressure on stations to deliver.
My alma mater asked me to serve as a “mentor” for communications students a few years ago, based on my “success” in the military and higher education. My time in that program was brief, because my first word of advice to the students was: change your major to something that’s marketable and actually has a future. If you still want to give broadcasting or journalism a try, take a few courses to acquire basic skills, or make it your minor. Needless to say, the dean of the college of communications wasn’t very happy with my advice.
At this rate we will find ourselves in a totalitarian state.
No, the lowest form of life is a radio station sales manager.
How was he killed? I can’t find what actually happened except it was protestors.
“The police officer wasn’t killed “while confronting” protesters.”
Azzwype Rep James Lankford (R-OK) was on Judge Janeen last night...said the officer was beaten to death during the protest.
Jeez...and these people ruin...err...run the country.
(Note...I could be confused about the actual elected gubment official...I was to busy yelling at the TV. There was also another on that was equally odious.)
This headline misstates Brian Phillips position.
He is not saying “Do not talk about election fraud.”
He is saying, “The election has been resolved and there are no alternate acceptable ‘paths.’”
I actually am okay with this. If he suppressed the discussion of voter fraud, then he should be worried.
The inescapable conclusion is that it is going to take force — physical force — to stop this accelerating threat by those who are determined to destroy our Republic and annihilate our Constitution. High-hard physical force.
“We’ve been misled and lied to for years by those supposedly on our side[.]”
Tragically, the “we” includes Trump.
Well DUH!
You told the truth.
Academics hate that!
I always thought of the "isms" as the government takeover or control of businesses and media. Yet here they are placing the boot on their own necks and licking it.
With all the security cameras and cell phones blanketing the area, I'm sure the FBI knows exactly who threw it.
If it is one of them we'll never hear another word about it.
Interesting first person account; thanks for posting.
And Heels Up Harris was laughing when she said that.
One thing we will see from the new government is financial support for supportive media because won’t make money in the private sector just for cheerleading.
Shapiro is a Never-Trumper who will say anything to get some cash.
Only a fool listens to that duplicitous POS.
Not true LS repeatedly told everyone on the forum not to listen to those two yahoos few heeded his wise wisdom.
And I’ve been saying for three years, that “Q” was nothing more than a big lark infested psyop that was made up of Russian-China cyber operatives mixed with democrats, and parent basement dwelling weed smokeing hot pocket eating geeks.
This is a huge part of the problem. All the shutting down of speech needs to be condemned by honest citizens of all stripe. Sadly, the impression that has been created is that shutting down speech on the Right (labeled as hate speech) is not only acceptable, but necessary to ensure domestic tranquility.
Funny, though, how they can never view all the “hate speech” hurled by the Left as any kind of threat.
I kept my old shortwave radio and expect to be soon using it to get uncensored news and opinion from beyond the Big Tech curtain. I hope conservatives have plans for shortwave broadcasts from outside the US since cable news, talk radio and even the Internet will soon be censored.
I’m taking down names and Brian Phillips is one of them.
