Day of reckoning looms for Capitol Police after Congress stormed by protesters
The Washington Times ^ | JANUARY 10, 2021 | JEFF MORDOCK

Posted on 01/10/2021 5:55:45 PM PST by E. Pluribus Unum

Lawmakers last week targeted the U.S. Capitol Police for a shake-up after its officers failed to fend off violent pro-Trump protesters who laid siege to the building, resulting in the deaths of at least five people.

U.S. Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund announced his resignation effective Jan. 16, and lawmakers called for a further shake-up.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who had called for the resignation of Chief Sund, also announced the pending resignation of House Sergeant-at-Arms Paul D. Irving.

On the other side of Capitol Hill, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced the resignation of Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Mike Stenger, a move demanded by Democratic Leader Charles E. Schumer of New York.

Mr. McConnell said the move was effective immediately upon the lawmaker’s request — an item on which the two parties in the upper chamber appeared to see eye to eye after the bloody unrest inside the Capitol building Wednesday.

Mr. Schumer had said that if Mr. Stenger weren’t gone once the Democrats take over the Senate on Jan. 21, “I will fire him.”

Law enforcement experts were aghast at what they saw as a stunning lack of preparation by the Capitol Police.

Furious lawmakers are calling for drastic changes.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky praised law enforcement for keeping members safe when pro-Trump protesters and agitators broke into the Capitol during a joint session of Congress to certify the 2020 election results.

The mayhem turned deadly when a female protester was fatally shot by a Capitol Police officer.

“Yesterday represented a massive failure of institutions, protocols, and planning that are supposed to protect the first branch of our federal government. A painstaking investigation and thorough review must now take place and significant changes must follow. Initial bipartisan discussions have already begun among committees of oversight and...

Replace them with social workers.

It’s good enough for the people of Minnesota.

Who removed the Barrycades and waved them in?

Who gave that order?

What about firing on the crowd?

Wouldn’t surprise me if some of the Capitol Police were Democrats. They allowed in people so the Capitol will get vandalized so they can blame it on Trump.

What a dam joke.

Congress has power over the capitol police. Thy do or not dothings according to those in power.

They were told by democrats to ignore the last two-three weeks of calls from federal leo groups asking if they wanted help.

They were under orders of Congress to turn it down.

They were also undr orders to let antifa in. They were shown direting people to different areas in the capitol during the behind the velvet ropes “riot”.

Now dems will attempt to blame them for this? Unbelievable.

Those scapegoats are hopefully singing about now.

Have you seen the video footage where Ashli was murdered? There was a cameraman/medic, at least one suit, and a few heavily armed police standing alongside and behind her.

Some?

That Godforsaken garbage dump of a town voted 92% democrat.

This is why anyone in his right mind refers to it as Democrat City.

Finding a registered Republican in that sewer is akin to finding a Leprechaun.

Howard Liebengood is most likely the murderer who killed Ashli Babbitt. Committed suicide or was suicided yesterday. Hardly any news. Other coo died of stroke or a heart attack, they won’t say, but he collapsed at his office.

In addition, HOWARD LIEBENGOOD I believe in the senate armed suit pictures is guy at far left. When you google his name or look at press releases, he was part of senate detail. Now look at pic in video of shooter with muzzle flash compare hair line to web image results, senate door photos and google. Looks like same guy.

The shooter dies, NO INVESTIGATION on Babbitt. Need to look into his politics, his wife’s, any suicide note, texts goodbye, all of it.

We would have had his name 5 days ago if this was a blm antifa unarmed shoot.

This is a coverup.

Congress should defund them. Most of its member’s support this for our cities and towns.

The amount of overt fascism that is occurring today, tells me the shooter was killed by those fascist forces.

We are deep into Soviet / Nazi times in America.

So when will Pelosi, Schumer, Biden. And Harris be impeached. They supported and blessed the DC riots all summer. Harris even said to the rioters, never stop and neither will I.
They also held inquisitions as to excessive force to quell the riots.

It was "Ho, Hum" as large sections of American cities were looted and burned to the ground by actual insurrectionists and innocent Americans lost their livlihoods and in some cases their lives.

But now it's a different story when the royalty is inconvenienced.

It was a ‘peaceful protest’ until... the protestors were invited into the Capitol.

On whose orders?

Post starwars “it’s a trap!” meme.

I saw a video yesterday on Parler showing someone inside the Capitol Building basement handing out 4-6 inch thick, round, wooden clubs to people to use to smash windows out.
