The “siege” against the Capitol – which mostly amounted to a group of dressed up LARPers walking around after being let in by police – prompted the failing web browser brand to claim:
“Changing these dangerous dynamics requires more than just the temporary silencing or permanent removal of bad actors from social media platforms.”
The newly defined goals of the company include exposing who advertisers are; and revealing networks of people who are guilty of wrongthink.
Mitchell Baker also wants to make default across his systems the amplification of corporate news voices over third party or entry-level providers.
Their full list of changes to made includes:
Reveal who is paying for advertisements, how much they are paying and who is being targeted. Commit to meaningful transparency of platform algorithms so we know how and what content is being amplified, to whom, and the associated impact. Turn on by default the tools to amplify factual voices over disinformation. Work with independent researchers to facilitate in-depth studies of the platforms’ impact on people and our societies, and what we can do to improve things.
In the past, critics of Firefox have urged the company to show independence from Google, despite their financial ties. The business model of Mozilla heavily relies on external funding, specifically on search engines.
According to Computer World, 91 percent of Mozilla’s funding in 2018 came from Google (as they secured being Mozilla’s default search engine). This deal was renegotiated in 2020 and extended for three more years, with approximately $400-450 million more landing in Mozilla’s lap.

“What are the best VPNs?”
There’s a fair number of good VPN services but the thing is to use different VPN services for the different things you do online.
If you’re an advanced user then you can take the time to route your outbound traffic on one VPN and your inbound traffic on a different VPN. Like you send a download request through Surfshark but the return comes to you on Nord.
It’s taking the idea of MFA to another level and employing multiple devices to accomplish one communication. This reduces the likelihood of anyone capturing all of your data in transit. At best they can get half of the conversation.
Probably going to dump Firefox (finally) in a few days, but I have to wonder. With patriots are congregating to mostly single Internet utilities (Brave, Gab, maybe Parler), seems like that would make it a lot easier for the left to corral and eliminate them and their sources for Internet access.
Any vpn you subscribe to is ok. Proton, cyberghost, anchor all work well. Proton has a very basic one for free.
More effort to unify the country?
The best thing is to have a cheap laptop just for internet browsing and any social media .
There is new server system long already in the works to host a social media these people don’t control and won’t use cloud .
FoxNews(pre-FuxUs News)cashed in on capitalism's green pill.
...or perhaps this current version of "blacklisting" oligarchs spooks any/all free-market opportunists away?
We'll see.
Aren’t these the people who ousted their inventor for championing straight marriage?
Brave ping
Mozilla/Firefox (which I have on my computer) always said that they exist to enable free speech, in periodic messages on their browser.
Now they’ve gone full-Stalin!!!!
PHOOEY to them!!!!
You’d recommend Brave browser for iOS ?
Yes!!!!
The next attack will be financial. Ever contributed to the GOP or the Trump campaign? Sorry, no PayPal for you....or no PayPal for them.
Our poor stupid GOPe thought that by going along with the left, they’d be spared. But they won’t be.
wrongthink
Yeah.
Back in 2014 the trendy little prog Mitchell Baker was spouting this standard issue pc talking point when Brendan Eich has resigned because his "wrongthink" in the form of $1,000 USD donation in 2008 in support of Californian anti-gay marriage law Proposition 8.
“Mozilla believes both in equality and freedom of speech,” said Mozilla’s Chairwoman Mitchell Baker in a the blog post announcing the resignation. “Equality is necessary for meaningful speech. And you need free speech to fight for equality. Figuring out how to stand for both at the same time can be hard.”
I suppose it is hard for mizz Baker to stand on both sides of the "equality and freedom of speech" fence while accusing others of the phantom crime of "wrongthink."
Performing such a feat of physical gymnastics could lead to pain in her lower regions that exist "in the middle."
.
You kidding? I don't even know what iOS is let alone Brave.....I merely pinged myself in case I want to come back to this thread after I figure out whether I should switch to Brave or keep my Firefox....
I'll use this ping because in another 20 minutes I will have forgotten the name of this browser......LOL!

“permanent removal of bad actors from social media platforms.”
And anyone who disagrees with us is by definition a bad actor.
