About 100 Trump supporters and 100 counterprotesters, some of whom described themselves as anti-fascists, stood off with San Diego police for hours in the heart of Pacific Beach Saturday, with officers trying to keep the opposing groups apart following skirmishes.
Police reported on Twitter that officers had been struck by a glass bottle. Rocks and eggs were also being thrown at police, and pepper spray was being deployed in their direction from the crowd, police said. They did not say who was responsible.
At one point, officers fired what appeared to be pepper ball rounds into the anti-fascist crowd during a confrontation.
The unrest began around 1 p.m., when a crowd of Black Lives Matter supporters and anti-fascists, many of them dressed in black and wearing “antifa” T-shirts and hats, gathered at the pier to counter a pro-Trump “Patriot March” planned for 2 p.m. The march had been scheduled long before the violent riot at the U.S. Capitol by a pro-Trump mob on Wednesday.
The counterprotesters held signs that denounced Trump, as well as one that said “No Nazis in PB.”
By mid-afternoon about 100 Trump supporters had gathered at the corner of Mission and Hornblend.
Lines of officers separated the groups, with some from the anti-fascist side taunting police with profanities.
Police declared an unlawful assembly about 2:30 p.m. and began asking people to disperse.

That's what it takes to be a "reporter" today, Gary and Phil? You just repeat what you read on twaddle? And it takes two of you?
I worked in PB back in the seventies on a twin tower condo right on the beach. The boss put us up in condos next to the beach. Good times. Surfing,Fires on the beach at night. Hittin the bars. Gettin thrown out of bars. And chicks. Boy how things have changed.
Me too, moved out of PB about 18 months ago, that scene has changed even since I left.
It’s going to be more than four years of severe problems, my friend. Hate to be the bearer of bad news.
Instead of accepting their self described anti-fascist label, we should start calling them “Profa Leftists”.
They should not be allowed to *practice* fascism while saying they oppose it.
It is wrong to call anti-police Communists “anti-fascists”
I just call them communists.
Well, with some reluctance I will come to their defense. It is possible their editor "cleaned up the article" out of fear of having their offices bombed.
This is what was available in the article for careful readers:
"They did not say who was responsible. At one point, officers fired what appeared to be pepper ball rounds into the anti-fascist crowd during a confrontation."
Anti-fascist? More like anti-Western civilization, anti-decency, anti-truth, anti-righteousness, anti-life.
the truth was in the next sentence:
“At one point, officers fired what appeared to be pepper ball rounds into the anti-fascist crowd during a confrontation.”
just from my limited youtube observations over the summer, I’d say pepper balling is typically directed to that part of the crowd doing the throwing of glass bottles, rocks and eggs at officers. I’d hope at that one point, the Trumpsters had zipped off to an alternate location.
When some patriots start putting holes in these antifa punks it’ll take the fight out of them.
Everybody’s all gangsta and ‘’anti fascist’’ until the real fun starts.
There has been a significant increase in news articles both written and TV news citing Twatter and Fakebook responses to news stories.
Just another rung down into complete Idiocracy.
