GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) said Friday that she believes President Trump should resign immediately, becoming the first Senate Republican to call for him to step down in the wake of riots at the Capitol.
“I want him to resign. I want him out. He has caused enough damage,” Murkowski told the Anchorage Daily News.
Murkowski's comments come two days after rioters breached the Capitol as Vice President Pence and lawmakers were counting the Electoral College vote.

Good point. My number of 62 was based on a worst case scenario where a number of GOP senators are whimping out and feeling they’ll look tough to some of the constituents if they vote to impeach. They’re also counting on GOP voters to forgive them the next election. McConnell, as much as he hates Trump, will count the votes and tell a few Senators that they are free to vote for removal. They won’t hit 67 votes and McConnell can’t be blamed for it.

Murkowski is in the Senate for one reason. Her last name.
Her dad was US senator for at least three terms and as Governor too.
If he name were Lisa Wilson or Lisa Corbett, she’d likely not be sitting in the Senate now.

The word behind the scenes is this: Every member of Congress recognizes that Wednesday’s sacking of the Capitol was basically carried out by the equivalent of an “Animal House” fraternity ... and they are facing the reality of just how easy it would be for even a lightly-armed street gang to end Congress in a matter of minutes.

Good idea...send your cut up Republican Party registration to the local committee. I am going to register as “Independent.” No longer identify as a republican, I was once the secretary of the county republican club. I was active, attending gun shows, car shows, parades, voter registration events and Lincoln Day Dinners.
There was a suspicious leader and his wife that seemed to be “never Trumpers” in the club. This is probably not an isolated situation. There are many republicans that did not like President Trump and actually worked against him.
This is what we are seeing, nationally. It must have been the fact that Trump was not a member of the uniparty swamp.
Quit the party, form another and call it the Whig Party!
