Shellshocked GOP ponders future with Trump
The Hill ^ | January 07 2021 | JONATHAN EASLEY,BRETT SAMUELS AND MORGAN CHALFANT

Shellshocked Republicans on Thursday said President Trump’s grip on the party is significantly weaker after he incited a mob to attack the Capitol, but some questioned whether their party would be free of his hold anytime soon.

The challenges to Trump are clearly mounting. There is chatter his Cabinet could invoke the 25th Amendment to remove him, an idea favored by at least one GOP lawmaker. Tensions between Trump and his long loyal vice president are clear, and there is evident anger in the Senate GOP with the president.

National Republicans interviewed by The Hill said Trump may have permanently alienated millions of center-right voters who were disgusted by Wednesday’s ugly scene.

Trump tried to save a nation that didn’t deserve to be saved.

In so doing he tried to also save a party that didn’t deserve to be saved.

In the end he accomplished neither because some things simply can’t be done, he was surrounded and besieged by cretins. But we should honor him for this effort. It was noble.

I’m done with political parties altogether. All they have done is spend us into oblivion and eroded our liberties.

Pres. Trump is exposing, not only the radical left, but traitors. Almost every Republican, including the vice president it seems, has abandoned him.

Pres. Trump has tremendous courage and I STILL stand by him!

MAGA should have started locally and worked its way up. It’s amazing what Trump put up with for four years. Stunning.

Oh, I most certainly WILL honor him. He was and is SO noble. He sacrificed so much for us, for this country. But here we are, and that’s why I hurt, and I can deal, but it’s when I think of his valiance that I am reduced to tears.

“ Sure but the criminal Biden and his vice president are thriving...”

All sorts of pestilence thrive in sewers. This nation’s Capitol is perhaps the most vile sewer to ever exist.

That theory is why some would not vote for Romney and they’ve turned out to be 100% right.

I think so to. I still think he will be involved. He will be pretty old in 2024.

It will depend on him.

The question is entirely up to Trump.

We will see.

I am trying to see a difference between the political/economic systems of China and the USA. Not much difference really. We don’t have rights, our government masters allow us some economic/political “latitude”, but there are limits. No freedom in either country..

Trump did not incite a riot.

This is false history trying to be written by fake news.

Trump was an outsider, and that is why the establishment GOP hated him. And the Senate Republicans stand away from Trump at their own peril.
