Trump tried to save a nation that didn’t deserve to be saved.
In so doing he tried to also save a party that didn’t deserve to be saved.
In the end he accomplished neither because some things simply can’t be done, he was surrounded and besieged by cretins. But we should honor him for this effort. It was noble.
Oh, I most certainly WILL honor him. He was and is SO noble. He sacrificed so much for us, for this country. But here we are, and that’s why I hurt, and I can deal, but it’s when I think of his valiance that I am reduced to tears.
I keep thinking about what you wrote. It resonates with me, yet I also think at least half the nation deserved to be saved — the hard-working, God-fearing patriots just trying to live our lives. I wonder if President Trump didn’t realize how greedy and treasonous our leaders in Washington are. Did we ourselves realize it until Trump came along and turned the light on, exposing the cockroaches in every governmental department, in the news media, in Hollywood, in big business, in education, in sports, in the military — even in the medical profession. It’s more than one man can overcome — or should be expected to overcome alone. We expected him to do what we failed to do on our watch — protect our values and freedoms and oversee our representatives.
Right now I am too depressed to decide what I am going to do for the future regarding politics. I had such high hopes under Trump, but the swamp is too extensive, powerful, and motivated. I am retired and can live my life and let the next generations decide their future. But for a start, I will certainly drop my registration as a Republican. The GOP is merely in bed with the Democrats. I will probably switch to Independent.
Thanks for your thought-provoking post.
