Rep. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., said he witnessed the moment a police officer shot a woman inside the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday and insisted the officer had no other choice.
A pro-Trump mob of rioters rammed their way into the Capitol Wednesday as Congress held a joint session to certify the election results, sending lawmakers into hiding.
Video shows a group attempting to force itself into the House chamber, where lawmakers were present. As protesters were breaking glass on the doors that kept them out to force their way through, a law enforcement officer fired a shot. One woman, Ashli Babbitt, was struck by a bullet and later died.
"When they broke the glass in the back, the [police] lieutenant that was there, him and I already had multiple conversations prior to this, and he didn't have a choice at that time," Mullin told ABC News' George Stephanapoulos on "Good Morning America" Thursday.
"The mob was going to come through the door, there was a lot of members and staff that were in danger at the time. And when he [drew] his weapon, that's a decision that's very hard for anyone to make, and, once you draw your weapon like that, you have to defend yourself with deadly force."
Mullin said police "showed a lot of restraint" and "did the best they could."

Yes, you’re wrong. She was shot and fell back almost at the feet of one officer who then immediately pointed his rifle at the door because the instantaneous reaction was that there was an “active shooter.”

exactly
well this wasn’t a riot so piss off troll.
I don’t think so. It was a really great shot. She was barely alive as she hit the floor. Or maybe super lucky, but I have seen a lot of gunshot wounds. This woman was posturing as they laid her down. She did not suffer.
Gutless lying scumbag.
I would have thought an Okie republican would not be such a cuck to the leftists.

Completely inconsistent with the vast majority of reports.
Tx, Very interesting!

I’m sure you’re basing that on some pictures shown on the internet. How do we know when those pictures were taken? Then there is the fact that the Capitol was open to visitors until the riots broke out. It’s entirely possible that some entrances remained open for awhile. It pays to be a bit sceptical.
‘...him and I already had multiple conversations prior to this...’
I’d primary him just for his lousy grammar...
‘No one had illusions this transfer would be cancelled...’
plenty of people on this website thought exactly that...
Some people are saying they were ‘crisis actors’. I seriously doubt that, but with all that’s been revealed these past 4 years, I will not rule it out.
Again, they REFUSED to hear any of the cases. The case never saw the light of day to GET a day in court
One of those cases that got thrown out was the Texas case brought to the Supreme Court. You are asking me to believe that not 1, not 2, but 3 Deep State agents managed to bamboozle Trump, arguably one of the greatest political geniuses in American history, into appointing them to the Supreme Court.
Do you realize how ridiculous and paranoid that sounds?
It is agreed you would be more comfortable at salon.com.

I notice you still didn't answer my question: how did 3 Deep State agents manage to fool Trump? You might want to try answering it (or not) instead of resorting to ad hominem deflections.
This was a political assassination and you are in the side of the thugs, not the rule of law.
Hmm, so cops are thugs but the people breaking through barricades, opening fire on the House and Senate floors, looting the Speaker's podium, and bringing zip ties with which to kidnap elected officials somehow are not?
ad hominem? think you’d better look that up again.
“It showed that the police can kill a protester without triggering a night of arson-fueled riots in every major city.”
But ONLY if that protester is white!
For a CPL holder, it is generally correct that if you draw your concealed weapon, it should be to use deadly force. The reason is that most states have brandishing laws, which means that displaying your weapon without firing can be interpreted as trying to brandish or intimidate someone. Also if someone is not exercising deadly force against you and you draw your weapon, you have just escalated the confrontation to a deadly force level, that can mean you loose your right to assert self defense as you made it a deadly force confrontation. The bottom line for civilians is generally, don't draw a weapon unless you life or someone else is in danger. If you fear for your life, then you should shoot to live and keep shooting until there is no longer a threat.
“Opening fire”?! You are living in an alternate universe.
So who was the shooter?
