Based upon the chaos, I think the Capitol needs to be kept shut down for 10 day. Meanwhile the legislatures could go do their actual jobs to reestablish rule of law, and disrupt this culture of rule of violence.
Well, THIS certainly will be a day that goes down in history. I am glad I have this community (Free Republic) to help absorb it.

Absolutely. Out Constitutional Federal system is the alternative to the mob. Corrupt it beyond a certain point, and the mob is what rules.
Call me silly but I used to think the US was a great place because we had honest elections and peaceful transition of power, not anymore it seems. What has transpired today is fitting for a third world banana republic, not the once greatest nation on the planet. Ain’t no going back now. Might as well jump in with both feet and try to finish the job.

Yup. Our voice was denied on election day. Our voice was denied in the immediate aftermath. Our voice was denied in the “internal reviews” of the election process. Our voice was denied by the courts, the state legislatures and Congress. Sorry that people on our side are getting fed up with it.

I support the mostly peaceful protestors liberating the capital today.
Not just ceremonial.
No outrageous violence.....
They took the capital, by breaking a few windows and doors....Once inside, no damage to anything....
