Mexico said Monday that it was ready to offer political asylum to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, after a British judge blocked his extradition to the United States to face espionage charges.
I'm going to ask the foreign minister to carry out the relevant procedures to request that the UK government releases Mr. Assange and that Mexico offers him political asylum," President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador told reporters.
The leftist leader welcomed the British court's rejection of the US request to extradite the 49-year-old Australian publisher due to the risk of suicide, calling it a "triumph of justice."
"Assange is a journalist and deserves a chance," he said.
Lopez Obrador said Mexico would ensure "that whoever receives asylum does not intervene or interfere in the political affairs of any country."

Another interesting aspect of illegal immigration is that it can harm the exporting country as well. Post World War II, Costa Rica was just another Central American country. Because they kept their best and brightest rather than exporting them, they are to most developed of any Central American county with the possible exception of Belize who, like the United States, reaped some benefits from British colonialism.

We loved the Puerto Vallarta area.
Even in marvelous N. California, Jan-Feb-early March can be cold,wet/damp and miserable.
We seriously thought about buying 8-10 weeks of Time shares from 2 Jan to mid March. Then, the criminals came in and took over.
Our last cruise to Mexico had a lot of armed guards watching over us at every port. There were no go areas in every port. A whale watching small boat cruise event off of Baja was cut short. We boarded our ship at sea and took off to get into American Waters very quickly.
I don’t know why...at this point they should let him go where he wants as I see it. He’s paid a horrific price no matter how people judge him or not.
