The president of North Dakota State University has offered an apology to the campus community and proposed a “plan of action” to help fight campus racism.
President Dean Bresciani suffered the wrath of student activists who, in early December, had demanded more action against racist hate speech.
Bresciani’s response to a racist Snapchat incident was called “completely unacceptable” and “horrible” by at least one student.
Not helping Bresciani’s case with the activists — despite it being 100 percent correct — was his pointing out that the university is limited by the First Amendment as to what sanctions it can mete out.
“As I reflect on the past two weeks, I personally offer my apologies to the students, faculty and staff who have been deeply harmed,” Bresciani wrote in his recent email. He then noted several ways in which NDSU is working to “improve the campus climate”:

Bresciani Has been worthless as President of NDSU except for support of football. He shifted over 8% of tuition revenues to sports since 2010, hired diversity officers in most major colleges and administrative offices, forced woke curriculum into departments and is constantly is at odds with legislative members and boards.
He hangs around because he has major supporters in Fargo namely Microsoft and Scheels. Never buy outdoor products from Scheels!
I have to laugh at an entire university has a student body that doesn’t understand the difference between ‘bigotry’ and ‘racism’.
i’m SO HAPPY That at 52 I work for myself and my other work is under an old, very conservative friend.
I couldn’t survive the harassment courses.
Where do they find these surrender monkeys for college presidents? Who is the boss anyway? He lets himself be pushed around by a bunch of snot nosed kids?

As a 30 year plus “in the trenches” full professor, I am convinced that only the weak, kiss ass sycophants aspire to administration. It is everywhere at all Universities, especially mine.

OK, I’m late to the party. But how is anyone to catch up if the triggering event is omitted from the article? I’ve clicked around on the included links but found nothing but vague assertions referencing Snapchat. I don’t want to assume it’s just another case of a thin-skinned, attention seeking snowflake feigning outrage over some superficial affront. If, OTOH the trigger was actually of sufficient import to justify high level changes in policy and curriculum it obviously needs to be highlighted Otherwise, what’s the point?

These day, just general triggering can set things off. And who is the arbiter of the event if there was an event? Who makes the call? I DEMAND some sort of referee to step in. Maybe someone was triggered because the capitulation wasn’t quick enough? Nothing will ever be enough.
