Not wrong. But I suspect the case will rest on the validity of his running down the thiefs. And how he knew where they were, and taking recovery upon himself once he knew where the vehicle was rather than calling police. Not sure I see anything illegal in those actions. Per the other article there are no witness’ to the confrontation nor video. At least none acknowledged by the prosecutors. If the confrontation is a he said, she said, a plea bargain is likely what they’re aiming at.

Prosecution is just upset that they won’t have a chance to release the offenders to offend again.

They'll need the survivors testimony, he may get a pass on auto theft.

Perhaps some of FR's attorneys can clarify. If the confrontation was at the time of the theft, this seems like relatively straightforward self defense. And the survivor could be charged with manslaughter or worse since the death was during the commission of a crime. But there was a two or three day lag before he found and recovered the car. Is that going to get him convicted? How about the survivor, can he be charged with more than auto theft?

And why was there a struggle? Did the man allow the perpetrators to come within striking distance, giving the perpetrators a chance to wrest the gun away from him, and thus have the possibility for the gun to be used against him? Here's my take, for what it's worth -- the guy was reluctant to shoot, let his guard down, they attacked, he shot.

Probably what happened, his word vs the thief's.

The so-called “Justice System” has been turned into a game to be played by the lawyers to make them look a lot more important then they are.

We'll have to fix this:

"A Lake County Circuit Kangaroo Court clownJudge Paul Novak ordered the 35-year-old Glover of Round Lake Beach held in lieu of $1 million"

Note to NWI clownjernalist: "Don't steal sh*t, don't get shot"

It doesn’t mean he won’t go to jail though - because America is no longer America.

America is a banana republic of stolen elections and corrupt "government" - especially in places like Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Arizona and Georgia...

The law in most states demands that you take no action against a thief who is not a personal danger to you or another person.

The law is definite in that you may take no life threatening action against a fleeing person.

Even though my sympathies are with Glover, the law will show him no sympathy. There are countless cases where those who tried to play cop ended up in prison because the confrontation ended up similar to this case.

We might not think it fair, but in court the judge does not care what we think.

The law in most states demands that you take no action against a thief who is not a personal danger to you or another person.

If we believe what we know of his explanation his life was in danger, he was being physically attacked by two 17 year olds. Neither article address' the legality of his handgun, given the lack of charges I presume he had an FOID, required in IL else a felony on it's own, and perhaps a CCL.

I suspect his biggest problem is the several day time delay between the theft and confrontation and his attempted recovery of the car personally rather than calling the police and telling them where the car and perps were.

And there's a lot we don't know. His background. Any possible relationship between himself and the theives. How he knew where to find the car and theives. And whether there's any video or even witness'.

Personally, particularly when armed, I think it's a mistake to insert oneself in an unnecessary confrontation. He had other options. But in itself, I don't see how that's a crime. In fact unless there's something significant we don't know yet I don't really see a crime here.

Does not matter what you and I believe.

The law specifically prohibits playing cop.

Texas gives a little more leeway to those who wish to protect their property from theft, but the law in most states forces the victim of theft to stand by while the thief carries his TV, silver and whatever else out of the front door.

Once the thief turns his back on you and attempts to leave, you become the lawbreaker if you take any action that results in serious injury or death.

Anyone who carries and does not understand the law is very likely to end up in prison.

Basically I agree with you, particularly as respects anyone legally armed.

Inserting oneself in an easily avoidable situation has great potential not to end well.

We might not think it fair, but in court the judge does not care what we think.

It is past time to return that sentiment. A number of judges should be permanently removed from office or otherwise persuaded to change their opinions. The Leftists keep showing us how this can be done. And they keep doing it. Their successes have nothing to do with clever legal arguments either.

Also, the laws must be changed. What we have now protects criminals at the expense of peaceful rule-abiding citizens. It's a game for suckers. Time to stop playing.

I might be totally wrong but something does not smell right with this story. He just happened to spot his stolen car at 2:30AM in the middle of no where a good three towns away from where it was stolen?

Something tells me when more facts come out we will find out there was a previous relationship between the shooter and those who were shot (I’m not going to call them victims here as that is not what the story so far indicates). I’m guessing something like he owed them drugs/money etc. so they stole his car in an effort to try and get him to pay.
