The leader of the Proud Boys, the group that has vocally supported President Trump’s efforts to overturn the election results, was arrested on Monday on charges of destruction of property after he arrived in Washington to protest the congressional certification of the election on Wednesday, according to reporter Will Carless and several individuals close to Tarrio.

Tarrio, the chairman of the Proud Boys, was arrested by Metropolitan Police on suspicion of burning a Black Lives Matter banner torn from a historic Black church in Washington during protests last month.

During the BLM riots last summer, I recall one or two incidents in which BLM/Antifa members stole American flags from government facilities and nothing happened to them. I believe one of these incidents occurred at an ICE facility in Portland.

You are right, of course. But the fact is that if someone steals a patriot’s American flag or MAGA hat and destroys it, he likely will escape charges. The fact that it was taken from “a historic Black church” might well escalate it to a hate crime.
