WGN noted the CTU “is threatening the possibility of a strike if the district pushes ahead with plans to reopen school buildings.”

Stupid is, as stupid does. It would be a crying shame if one of the students she flunked out in the past broke into her house and “re-appropriated” all her belongings.
There doesn’t seem to be any adults in Chicago so not sure what can be done.

They have power because parents feel that good schools are important and that teachers are saints and therfore if they strike the parents (taxpayers) reflexively support the teachers.
But I suppose in a world where schools are kept closed indefinitely because teachers say they'll strike if they are forced to teach kids there is a tipping point where parents will say 'enough' and finally tell the teachers unions to go f@#@ themselves. Then change is possible.
Sadly I don't think we're there yet.
I really cannot abide these crybaby teachers. And I’m a teacher along with all 5 of my own children. We are all busting our a$$es to teach our kids. Good grief. 🤦♀️

I have watched over the years and seen the emotional and knowledge basics of the children in my family and theirs and their friends in many states become stunted and filled with the fear that self gratifications are to be instant in their lives, if not they become almost rabid that everyone does not now down to their will.
It is sad, and shall take a great deal to resolve the harms brainwashed into them.

A few years back, there was a conference on Marxism at Northwestern University. CTU leaders and some Chicago teachers attended. Their recent strike and their work in general were noted as contributing to the revolution.
