A coalition of GOP senators and senators-elect, led by Sen. Ted Cruz, will object to the Jan. 6 certification of the presidential election results when a joint session of Congress meets next week unless there is an emergency 10-day audit of the results by an electoral commission.
Cruz -- along with Sens. Ron Johnson, R-Wis.; James Lankford, R-Okla.; Steve Daines, R-Mont.; John Kennedy, R-La.; Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., and Mike Braun, R-Ind.; as well as Sens.-elect Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo.; Roger Marshall, R-Kansas; Bill Hagerty, R-Tenn., and Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala. -- say that the election "featured unprecedented allegations of voter fraud and illegal conduct."
Their effort is separate from one announced by Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., who said this week that he would object to what he said was the failure of some states -- most notably Pennsylvania -- to follow their own election laws.
"Voter fraud has posed a persistent challenge in our elections, although its breadth and scope are disputed. By any measure, the allegations of fraud and irregularities in the 2020 election exceed any in our lifetimes," the lawmakers say in a statement.
A source familiar with the effort told Fox News that it was Cruz who orchestrated the effort, working with other senators to organize the push against the certification and call for the electoral commission with just days to go before the joint session of Congress.
The lawmakers say there is a precedent of Democrats objecting to election results in 1969, 2001, 2005 and 2019: "And, in both 1969 and 2005, a Democratic Senator joined with a Democratic House Member in forcing votes in both houses on whether to accept the presidential electors being challenged," they say.

Beat me by exactly one minute. :)
What makes Cruz's and Hawley's efforts "separate?"
Looks to be an interesting week coming.
Hawley’s objections aren’t based on allegations of fraud. He simply points out that many of these states didn’t even follow their own election laws. This is a much easier case to make because it doesn’t require anyone to prove actual instances of fraud.
Their statement says they won’t endorse any results until an Election Commission does a 10 day audit. .....suggesting a reprisal of 1877 ....consisting of Reps, Senators, and Supreme Court justices.
The goal is to establish election integrity.
WOW. That’s 11 of 52 senators. Lots of RINOs will not join, but many more may. This will provide cover for even more reps, too.
It builds. The latest OANN/Gateway pundit video should turn more to our side.
Hooray! Hagerty and Blackburn stepped up.
Trading their duty for a promise of a hamburger on Tuesday.
Theater.
They will allow, and vote for, certification.
Well knock me over with a feather.
If they succeed, I'll take back every bad thing I've ever said about him.
What does this say when the two senators from GA aren’t on board? And they want me to cast a vote for them!
Trust but Verify are the words of President Reagan
What makes you say that?
Where’s the beef? China Mitch still has plenty of votes to confirm the steal. I’m not seeing a game changer here.
No comment on whatever ulterior motive could be driving it. We could speculate endlessly.
Because the certification will occur before the Commission.
"China Mitch" is an apt moniker. CCP Mitch would work too, but it's not as poetic.
Atleast 1 representative and 1 senator in a written objection.
That’s all it takes to force Congress into a discussion where there would be detailed evidence of election fraud on displayed for the entire world to see.
They will likely end up with dozens. Remember, courage is contagious but so is covering your ass and becoming a whistle blower in exchange for leniency.
This could cause house reps and senators to resign and walk out.
From their joint statement:
“Accordingly, we intend to vote on January 6 to reject the electors from disputed states as not ‘regularly given’ and ‘lawfully certified’ (the statutory requisite), unless and until that emergency 10-day audit is completed. “
I take it back. I was wrong.
They will vote favorably.
I use to not like Cruz. On this I feel Im fighting with him shoulder to shoulder. Our lives are on the line.
I just emailed Ted Cruz thank you for standing up for our republic. Tried to email Josh Hawley last week but his web site wouldn’t take it for some reason.
