My daughter and I were in a local park’s parking lot a few days ago headed to the trail when I heard this really strange and bizarre sounding vehicle coming up behind us. It sounded like a high performance engine, highly muffled and muddy sounding with a lawnmower overtone. Turned out to be an electric car moving slowly with the added noise coming from a loudspeaker to alert pedestrians. I’ve read that some car makers are doing that, but it was the first time I’ve heard one.

Just what I need, a horn I can program to make farm yard animal sounds and other obnoxious noises. So the hipster sees an obese woman or cop, he can play pig sounds. This should be a hit in places like Mexico.

I just had this discussion with another Freeper about Michael Crichton who was an extraordinary man, who wrote a book I really liked: “State of Fear”.
What tickled me most in a perverse way, was Crichton’s portrayal in his book of the Eco-Terrorists...who all drove Priuses instead of...Chevy Suburbans or SUV’s...
Heh, there was something about the concept of being trailed by two shadowy figures in a Prius (or having to kidnap someone by forcing them into a Prius) that seemed so absurd that I grinned as I read it!
Years ago there was a Miata around MIT that was black and white, painted like a cow, and it made a ‘moo’ sound. It was great.
