In a lengthy post on Facebook, Nebraska GOP senator Ben Sasse addresses the danger of Congress attempting to overturn the election on January 6:
The president and his allies are playing with fire. They have been asking – first the courts, then state legislatures, now the Congress – to overturn the results of a presidential election. They have unsuccessfully called on judges and are now calling on federal officeholders to invalidate millions and millions of votes. If you make big claims, you had better have the evidence. But the president doesn’t and neither do the institutional arsonist members of Congress who will object to the Electoral College vote.
Let’s be clear what is happening here: We have a bunch of ambitious politicians who think there’s a quick way to tap into the president’s populist base without doing any real, long-term damage. But they’re wrong – and this issue is bigger than anyone’s personal ambitions. Adults don’t point a loaded gun at the heart of legitimate self-government.
Mr. Sasse, reach behind you, grab your ears, and pull your head out of your ass!

Silly Ben: legitimate governments don’t gaslight the citizens, that’s what illegitimate governments do, and illegitimate governments that don’t have loaded guns pointed at them make for a really bad century.

There has been a few episodes of the Twilight Zone that are now in play.

I wish it was ignorance - but that is certainly not the case here. Ben Sasse is no dumb idiot. He’s bought and paid for - that’s all.
The giant multinational corporations are throwing trillions of dollars, yen, whatever... around DC. That money is what put theses whores in office - and that money is what keeps them there.
There are precious few honest politicians that take their oath seriously and seek to represent their constituency - precious few.
Once in a while there is a SC justice confirmation or something where Ben Sasse can do his holier than thou “good guy” act - but he’s there for the money.
I wish ignorance and stupidity was the problem - but it’s not.
With the swamp full, they stand to make millions...

This is really driving the worms out of the woodwork. Aren’t we lucky. Think about how it’s going to feel to be an elected office holder with no assignment. Tits on a bull.
All I want is legitimacy in my elections. Ben sasse should want that too. How does he plan to get there?
