On Thursday, a teacher who is on the executive board of the Chicago Teachers Union, for whom she serves as an area vice president, reportedly urged special education teachers to refuse to return to work the week after New Years’ Day because it would be unsafe. A few hours prior to that, the teacher, Sarah Chambers, posted a photo on Instagram of a pool in Puerto Rico captioned, “Spending the last day of 2020 by the poolside.”
“We have the whole pool to ourselves,” Chamber’s caption continued. “Then, we are going to old San Juan to get some yummy seafood mofongo. We have an entire Airbnb house to ourselves. I’m here with my friend who also had covid.”
According to WGN, Chambers is “facing criticism for vacationing in the Caribbean while at the same time claiming it’s unsafe for teachers to return to the classroom.” The outlet also notes that Chambers’ post “mentions she previously had COVID, got a negative test result and consulted her doctor before traveling.”
In mid-December the Chicago Board of Education decided to resume some in-school classes in January, but the Chicago Teachers Union was vehemently opposed to the idea. CTU President Jesse Sharkey stated, “This is the most difficult time. Transmission is highest. It’s dark and cold. People are indoors and the holidays are coming, so there’s going to be a lot of transmission.”

Eddikashun degree: Strike one
Member of corrupt eddikashun union (they all are) : Strike two
Won’t teach because of “fear” of Wu Flu: Should be strike three.
Let them eat mofungo
The CTU is a criminal organization.
L
and is the union paying for that posh quarantine resort???
Teachers’ unions are dens of corruption and self interest. They despise children and taxpaying parents.
It’s a great way to be paid because they continue to receive paychecks for nothing. It’s money for nothing. Cut off their pay and they will go back to work ....
DUH!!!
Everybody knows there’s NO covid in the Caribbean! /s
No, the CTU is not paying for this retreat. But Chicago Schools are paying full dollar for each and every teacher and board member, whether they teach, administer or show up at all.
But she is a CTU board member traveling after a covid diagnosis, with a “friend” who also has covid. So is covid so dangerous that she is violating her state's orders by not staying home, or is she just a hypocrite?
Knowing Chicago teachers and their unions, her friend is another dame that is also on full vacation pay and this is just one of many extended vacations for them.
So I vote that she is a hypocrite, just like WGN insinuated.
Why the hell are these edumacators still getting fat pay checks while refusing to go to work????
“...traveling after a covid diagnosis...”
That means she traveled to PR by air. The entire flight, passengers and crew must be quarantined.
I believe it was the Chicago Teachers’ Union whose official was able to retire on a full teachers’ retirement after being a substitute teacher for just one day. Seems like he got credit for all the years he worked for the union, but to get the retirement he had to actually ‘teach’ for a few hours.
Poor girl that’s the best the under paid teacher could do what a shame.

These unions are advocating lockdowns that are financially destroying people and she’s out lounging about. F’ her.
the teachers union has outlived it usefulness. There must be a lot if qualified people out there that would like a job teaching. Foreign speaking too.
No, ten days after a positive test you’re allowed out if you don’t have symptoms. I had it and that’s when I was allowed back to work.
You are misunderstanding: This person (and the "friend") have had Covid - meaning that they are now immune. They can't even be carriers, since their bodies contain the antibodies which can hunt down and destroy the virus.
Regards,
did she fly after the 10 day period?? I don’t know but will say she within the 10 day period for the purpose of raising a stink!! You know, like a CNN reporter would.
