President Trump jetted back to the White House on Thursday after the Republican Senate rejected his demands for $2,000 COVID stimulus checks.
Trump was uncharacteristically quiet on Twitter as he and First Lady Melania Trump left his resort in Palm Beach on New Years Eve day after a week of golf.
There was no immediate word on what Trump’s early pre-holiday return to the nation’s capital might mean for the stimulus logjam on Capitol Hill.
GOP Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell again pronounced Trump’s bigger checks as a non-starter Thursday, saying it amounts to a windfall for the wealthy.
“Socialism for the rich is a terrible way to help those Americans who actually need the help,” McConnell said.
Democratic Minority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer countered that Americans facing eviction and trying to pay their bills are the ones who will benefit from the increased stimulus.
Democrats believe if McConnell relents, they could amass the 60 votes needed to pass it.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), a strong ally of both Trump and McConnell, said Thursday that a stand-alone vote on the bigger checks “might pass” if McConnell allows one.
“I’m with the president on this,” Graham told Fox News.

Good for you. For me this year, my income was well below the 6 pictures I normally make but of course going from the prior year taxes when everything was great I won’t get anything either.
What pisses me off is the foreign aid. Why are we not stopping this crap from occurring every year? The time for being generous to nations who hate us, who don’t fully back us should be over. I’m all for charity but come on, we are not the bank for the world.
Much of the U.S. foreign aid millions and billions will end up being kicked back to our own senators and congressmen and women. The “poor” of these dead-end countries will never see any of it. It will be the corrupt elites in the sh**hole countries and the corrupt politicians in the USA who will pocket the piles of money.

Why aren’t the checks for people on unemployment? That’s what this whole thing is about, people out of jobs. Yes, we make too much any other time, as most people do, but since my husband has been furloughed for 9 months, we should qualify.

Wide use of Firearms, were arguably the start of the technology weapons race. One where if you fall behind militarily, you can loose a war.
Pre wwi is a good example. If you did not field a machine gun you were not going to win a war.
The British had Naval dominance worldwide with their sailing vessels. But once motorized hit the scene, Britians grand warships were useless. Can you imagine if they had not motorized quickly.
Tanks, aircraft, ect has been a step by step progression, one that if you fell behind you were no longer a first world army.
My point is this, from ancient times, till lets say the 1800’s, one can argue that an ancient army could somewhat run with a later army. Since WWI, any next generation army wipes the floor with the previous generation army. That was not the case for hundreds of years of human history.
I say we stick with being on the inventive side. Especially with a whole new type of war, one where alot of manned weapons will be unmanned, is on our doorstep. We want to be the first with the next generation weapons systems.
Yes more and more advanced weapons are needed for military and police use. My question, however, was about personal defense hardware. What’s the latest available, laser guns for open- or concealed-carry? Thanks for your time.

we can’t afford 2K for those making under 75K, but we can afford to fund gender studies in Pakistan, a nation that doesn’t want gender studies.
