A grand jury indicted officer Andre Maurice Pringle on one count of second-degree assault and one count of misconduct in office.

A Baltimore police officer was indicted on a charge of assaulting a man on crutches who allegedly refused to properly wear his face mask.

A grand jury indicted officer Andre Maurice Pringle on one count of second-degree assault and one count of misconduct in office after he shoved and slammed Brandon Walker on the ground outside of a Shoppers grocery store on April 19.

The incident happened after Walker allegedly entered the store with his face mask on top of his head, the Baltimore City State's Attorney's Office said in a press release. Gov. Larry Hogan had issued an executive order requiring people to wear a mask or face covering due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Walker, who was using a crutch and had a cast on his right foot, refused to pull the mask down over his mouth and nose, according to the release and indictment. A store manager called Pringle, who was working in the store, for assistance.

Officer Pringle, who was in full BPD uniform at the time, approached Walker and advised him that he had to leave the store," prosecutors said. "The two began walking towards the exit. Walker was yelling and cursing at Officer Pringle as they continued towards the automated entry/exit doors."

Once in the vestibule, Walker stopped and "glared" at Pringle, prosecutors said. The officer allegedly grabbed Walker by his jacket, shoved him outside, and then slammed him to the ground face-first causing Walker to hit his head on the pavement.

Pringle then got on top of Walker and folded his left leg upward, according to prosecutors.

"The contact which started with the shove and continued through the arrest resulted in intentional, harmful, offensive, and unwanted touching by Officer Pringle," the release stated. "The physical assaults were not accidental, consented to, nor legally justified."

A woman who answered a phone number listed for Pringle said he would not be commenting on the case. It's not clear if the officer has an attorney and the Baltimore Police Department could not immediately be reached on Thursday

Not yet officer Pringle you have to wait till the apparatchik is in place first. Once installed you can use all the force you want while herding the non-compliant to a well deserved shower.

Cops watched cities burn over the summer while being paid.

I know quite a few local police and state sheriffs (I’m not one myself). Some cops are on a power-trip, but most simply want to get through the day, feel they are doing some good in society, get their paycheck and make it home.

If I were a cop, especially knowing a leftist city council and mayor would attack and prosecute cops if any mistake were made - yes, I would not risk my neck to keep ANTIFA from burning a building downtown.

I would also not harass people about petty stuff like wearing a mask. What’s the point?

You didn’t read my post about cops essentially being Antifa force multipliers. They are doing Antifa’s work when they pull shit like this.

Antifa force multiplier? Why would you care how many of those vermin there are and will be? Just like vermin, they need to “go”.

Here in Hernando and nearby Citrus Counties some businesses have mask requirement signs posted, and many people do wear them but from what I’ve seen people don’t bother anyone who don’t wear one.

...allegedly refused to properly wear his face mask

So was his nose peeking out? There were gaps between the mask and his face? No...

...allegedly entered the store with his face mask on top of his head

Now that is some serious civil disobedience.

I’m right. Judging by the spirit of Freepers post, one can decipher what they REALLY mean. You didn’t even need to add the word “thug”, meaning deep down you hate cops regardless of what they do.

I see it all the time at “cop shot (insert black perp)” threads. No worries..

Combination of issues here, IMHO.

You have some in the police that can’t control themselves when provoked, and part of your professionalism / training is being able to stay level headed when being provoked. Let’s face it, few people are smiling and happy when being ticketed, arrested, told to do something... As police, you are representing the authority of the government. You need people that are able to stay level headed and some can’t do that. Some of the people the police deals with have mental issues, or they might just have the worst day of their life, or they are just a juvenile punk that in 10 years will be an outstanding citizen... The point is, the police need to maintain their bearing even if deep down inside you want to smash this assholes skull. You don’t really know the background of why this twerp is acting like an ass, and if you mess him up, the people judging you won’t likely know nor care the background as to why you messed him up.

Many of the interactions police have are “negative.” I’m sure that jades your perception of humanity eventually. You’re dealing with bad folks in some cases (looking for criminals, bad neighborhoods, responding to crimes...) and your interactions are generally negative: tickets, arrests, distrust, people that are angry because nothing is being done in their eyes, or distrust because they feel you’re unfair/unjust...

If you want to stick the police into peoples homes to deal with domestic issues (the police should have never been used for this), if you use them to enforce idiotic rules like the mask, as meter maids to make money, or allow them to stop and frisk... you will make them very unpopular and achieve very little. The police will end up being the punching bag for failed policies as with pot etc. When a college kid is arrested and gets a criminal record for something as silly as pot, do you really think the police just gained the support by the community from this kid, his friends, family??? What did they achieve with the arrest? We need to rethink how communities are policed and the police isn’t even entirely the culprit here, they are just following orders.

Yep. When I was a kid, and even into my 20s, you could go up to a cop and just have a conversation. I wouldn’t dream of doing that now.

And no, it’s not because I’d fear being beaten up. I’m sure there are exceptions. But now too many of them have this us-against-them attitude. It’s a bit tough to take.

Setting aside the fact that the officer stepped over a line when he assaulted the citizen. The officer was simply trespassing the individual at the request of the business owner. At that point, the officer is not stomping on anyone’s rights and is enforcing a valid law. That is unless you disagree with trespassing laws and a business owner’s right to trespass someone. You want to point the finger at someone “enforcing” tyrannical rules? Point it at the business owners/managers that call the police and put them in a no-win situation. Better yet, point it at the government official that has threatened to close the business if it doesn’t enforce government edicts. Talk about a textbook example of fascism; that’s it.

First, fire his crusty ass. Then forbid him to own or carry a firearm due to his uncontrollable rage, and then sentence him to a nursing for 7.5 years without parole. And feck mcconnell.
