Influenza has disappeared in NYS, too.

Granted, this data is from 2018, which is the most current I can find, and it is from the CDC. Data numbers would NOT change that much from year to year, but seemingly every disease, accident or suicide has been replaced with Covid. It’s a freakin’ MIRACLE! If you don’t catch Covid, you’re going to live forever now, so plan accordingly! *SNORT*

However, this data, compiled by the ‘JAMA Network’ (whoever they are) says that Covid is the THIRD highest cause of death for Americans in 2020.

Japan, with a population of 139M, has, in spite of avoiding lockdowns, a total of 3,243 Coronavirus deaths.
From what I understand, they quarantine those who have the virus and also those who have been in contact with them. They would, for instance, quarantine everybody who shared a subway car with that person. Everybody else is free to live their lives.

A quickly suppressed study by a researcher at Johns Hopkins analyzing CDC death data also questioned why deaths due to cancer, heart disease and stroke have diminished during the pandemic while the total deaths from all causes remained about the same. A study instituted by two Minnesota state legislators also found deaths from suicide, car accidents and dementia being recorded as COVID deaths and estimated as much as a 40% over reporting of COVID deaths in that state.

In many states, not in all.
In Colorado we peaked Nov 13 and cases have dropped ever since, from 6000 a day to a recent low of 1400. It’s like backwards of what it should be doing.
I’ve noticed some other states have a similar pattern.
Nothing mysterious - when human contact is reduced by 95%, the flu has a tough time spreading.
On the plus side, I think we might be able to sell antibody laden plasma after we're done with the quarantine...
Washington State had only ONE reported case of the common flu for all of Oct. and Nov.
The lib argument would say that all those ‘Flu’ people got killed off by Covid instead.
Yeah, I explained this fact to my Canadian friend who leans left, and he really tried to argue that maybe the flu just didn’t infect anyone this year because everyone was quarantining inside. It’s amazing how people will engage in pretzel logic just to avoid challenging their dearly-held assumptions.
