Climate activists have developed a special nomenclature in their war against corporations and their emissions. Scope 1 emissions are what’s emitted by a company in the direct production of its products. In the case of ExxonMobil, this means emissions associated with drilling, refining, and transportation of its petroleum products.
Scope 2 emissions are those emitted by another entity (say, a power plant) in the production of a company’s products. Scope 3 emissions are those of the company’s products when used by customers. For ExxonMobil, Scope 3 emissions are emissions from customers burning petroleum products like gasoline and natural gas.
Focusing on these emission streams, activists hope to pressure companies on climate, often by trying to force alignment of a company’s various emission streams with the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement. Companies like ExxonMobil are unfortunately playing along. By agreeing to report Scope 3 emissions, ExxonMobil has in effect made its own customers’ use of its products into a problem.

Lol these nutters sadly believe in total destruction of civilization back to the stone age.
I am waiting for the edict that bans the use of the wheel.
Ok, honestly if we do not take back the USA we as a species are lost.
Respects
What’s wrong with you? You don’t like sitting on the veranda of your mud hut as the smell of dung fires wafts past? LOL! And, welcome to the fray.
Yes, but only for us, not for them.
You're a big, rich, deep-pocketed target, just like gun manufacturers, cigarette makers, liquor stores, etc. Don't try that dodge about the consumer being responsible for his own actions. Lawyers don't get rich thinking that way.
Besides, we're already guilting the consumer by levying gas taxes, and they'll get angry if we raise them. We'd rather fine you instead, so you have to raise prices, and then YOU get the blame.
I buy all the fuel I need and burn it with relish. Diesel everything even down to the lawn mower. The only things around here that run on gasoline is a weed eater, leaf blower and chain saws.
I burned at least 50 gallons of diesel in just the last day leveling dirt. Small job.
Most of the electricity around here is from COAL so I’m not the least bit concerned about any of the foolishness.
Oh, one other thing, I’ve drilled for oil and gas all over the world since 1977 using millions of gallons of diesel in the process in belching Cat 398 and huge Wartsila and other diesel generators on ships and boats. I enjoyed it.
I’m a lot more concerned about illegals and over population, trash, waste, gooberment debt, political intrigue, fraud, crumbling roads, national defense, the money grubbing medical industry and so on than I ever will be about burning hydrocarbons.
One good sized sun spot probably makes more heat than all we have ever generated.

Try taking on my family, and you want us to kneel and give up????
NUTS
How do you live with yourself? 😂🙌 Oh, and thanks for your help staving off another ice age.
Very well. No remorse at all.
Too wet to plow today so no diesel being burned.
Dang the luck. Could you keave it running to keep it warmed up? 😂🚜
I understand that Tesla is getting a lot of money either directly or indirectly from other car companies because the other companies are still manufacturing "too many" combustion engine vehicles.
When did I tell my congressman to vote for that?
The war on the middle class rolls on.
