The US is vaccinating people way too slowly. A top doctor explains why.(Slow walk the process, extend the pain)

In his Twitter thread, Jha first noted that Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar said in October that the US would be prepared to have 100 million doses of the vaccine ready to ship by December, and that Azar later reduced that number to 40 million.

Jha pointed out that Operation Warp Speed, the White House effort centered around the vaccine, had further reduced the estimate, saying there would be 20 million doses ready by the end of this year.

While the specifics of how vaccines are distributed is up to states, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has offered general guidelines.

"Most are super stretched and they are trying to make a plan," Jha said of state health agencies. "They are trying to stand up a vaccination infrastructure. Congress had given them no money."

Seems like the states aren't prepared to deliver the shots, which is odd.

All one should have to do is go to CVS, Walgreens, one of those emergency testing centers, etc and get jabbed with whatever goo is in those syringes.

Givernment is the Disease, You are The Cure... 99.997% of the time.

Seems like there will plenty of guinea pigs before I am forced to get my shot.

Hopefully it will either turn out to be completely harmless and useless or merely harmless.

If it turns out to be a cure worse than the disease then hopefully they will find out before my arm is on the chopping block.

Nope. People like Fauci, Newsom, Cuomo, De Blasio, etc. have had tasted the power of total control and they will not let. I suspect they are drunk with their newfound power and rather than be satisfied, they crave more.

It's not like we've never distributed "flu" vaccines before. The difference is that we are being selective as to the order of who gets it first, second, etc etc. Everything is going along fine.

Patience is not our best virtue.

Of course then perhaps we should go back and look at "the 15 days".

The professor is full of bovine excrement. The entire purpose of public health departments is vaccinations for communicable diseases and prevention of food borne illness from restaurants and grocery stores.

Pretending that they don’t have vaccination infrastructure is bullshit and they have had all year and millions of federal dollars to get ready for when a vaccine was approved. If they aren’t ready it’s because government employees are stupid and lazy.

Saying that care facilities don’t have anyone to administer shots is more baloney. They all have nurses on staff that can give shots.

This is just another Orange Man Bad parting shot.

It’s not that simple. The supply of vaccine is limited and persons are prioritized on the basis of vulnerability. The flow of people to the vaccination points will have to be managed otherwise you may have far too many show up at a specific place that doesn’t have near enough vaccine for them. To say nothing of telling some that they have the vaccine but that persons standing in the priority system means they’ll have to come back weeks later.

Just telling people to go to Walgreens/CVS would produce a fiasco.

persons are prioritized on the basis of vulnerability

That's just the narrative for public consumption. Priority is whatever the specific state's governor decides it is.

As Kaiser Patient,we can go to any California approved pharmacy/facility to get the vaccinations:

You’ll be able to get the vaccine from any facility that has been approved as a COVID-19 vaccine provider by its state department of health. Non–Kaiser Permanente members will also be able to get the vaccine through Kaiser Permanente at no cost.

I was just having this conversation with my wife and daughter—who are both involved in the distribution at their respective hospitals. One state, CT, put together a council in the governors office and it seems to be spreading out fine.

In the other state, MA, it appears the DPH was just informed that there was a pandemic. It seems to have caught them off guard.

And Trump will get blamed. Again.

CVS and Walgreens are administering the first two COVID-19 vaccines at long-term care facilities.

Healthcare facilities are ramping up vaccination clinics for their workers during this first phase when vaccine supplies are still scarce.

Many pharmacies are planning to make the vaccine available to the public once supplies increase and high-priority groups receive their vaccines first.
