Los Angeles area hospitals are at a breaking point due to the coronavirus pandemic in Southern California, where the mounting death toll has overwhelmed intensive care units and led to contingency plans for possibly rationing care.
Though coronavirus hospitalizations are stabilizing in parts of California, patients are still overwhelming hospitals in a large swath of the state, leading California Gov. Gavin Newsom to warn that the state must brace for the effect of a “surge on top of a surge” from recent holiday travel.

That’s been my observation as well. Most of the patients do not require icu, but icu level of care does suck up a lot of resources. Of the non icu cases, I’ve noticed about a week or 2 is the average time spent. Some times less than week. I had to float to the ED last week, and was assigned the covid area. A lot of people are flooding the ED because they fear they were exposed, or the just have mild symptoms. It just jams up the whole works. The doc usually prescribes tylenol, decadron, and vitamins c, d and zinc, makes sure that there oxygen level is normal, then sends them on their way.
wrong. Covid is a separate clinical entity quite distinct from influenza and treated differently
Don’t believe me, look at a map or satellite imagery, LA and it’s surrounding crammed in cities are solid concrete, homes and streets and freeways for 140 miles long by about 50 miles wide...From Dozen Oaks to San Diego..
Tolerance Sucks Rocks : "Coronavirus PING! "
Talk of State of California possibly rationing medical care to contain an expected virus surge !
None the less, the State is in quarantine, mandatory masks, and lock-down. Go figure !
what percentage of the ICU COVID admitted are hispanic? dual citizens? out of state? foreign?
Of course.
What a honking hoot. Sounds like ya work for the Chamber of Commerce. Come on man! I know the LA area intimately. It's a sh*t bucket of traffic jams, illegals, foreign nationals and concrete in all directions...lol. The biggest spectator sports in the LA area nowadays are police pursuits!
How are the legions of unsanitary, no-mask homeless squatters doing? They must all be dead by now, right?
come stand at bedside
Not the slightest bit interested...have a nice day.
MEJICO!! Same thing happened here in my border town...once they touch USA asphalt they CANNOT be refused medical assistance. The sick illegals were crossing the bridge like no one’s business....they were desperate...this was reported by a local fox reporter...once they crossed over to the USA line ambulances were called to pick them up and rush them to the corona hospitals ... that’s why our numbers continued to spike..since then crickets nothing has been reported after that. The hospitals had trailers outside the Hospital parking lots to store the bodies of those unclaimed innocent people. Really sad situation in Mexico...but unfortunately because of those majority chyna victims we paid the price!
How many are used as COVID taxis?
I’ve read more than a few stories about people on welfare calling the local hospital needing an ambulance, that the city pays for, and when they arrive they’re magically better.
And then they walk to go visit their family (who lived nearby) or a local mall.
Locke downs and a masks what a farce, how did these cases get so high newsome? how? This will stop when we strat dragging these scumbags into the streets and letting them know how we feel
This BS news doesn’t tell you that this information does not cover private hospitals such as Keiser which still have rooms and ICU space. More hysteria to scare folks.

Is the article written by a Breitbart reporter?
Can we trust Breitbart?”
Breitbart posts many ridiculous articles and information just to show the stupidity and hostility of them. Yes, you can trust Breitbart.
Thanks for boots on ground report.
As goes California, so goes the Nation.
in 2015 the Average Daily Deaths in Los Angeles was 165, TODAY it is 165 also!!!, but now everything is reclassified as COVID>>>> no its a miracle everyone else has been healed.
didn’t use the 1,000 bed hospital ship last time

Again, my comment is not only NOT about the “L.A. area” but how the whole of southern California is NOT part of the “L.A. area” and it is mostly far from it.
