Two German WWII tombstones at a Texas veterans cemetery — each bearing Nazi swastikas — have been removed and replaced with new ones that do not use the symbol.

The 1943 gravestones belonging to German prisoners of war Alfred Kafka and Georg Forst at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery featured an Iron Cross with a swastika in the middle, and the phrase, “He died far from his home for the Leader (Führer), people and fatherland.”

Cemetary workers removed the stones on Wednesday.

I see there are a lot of people here who will welcome Sharia law.

possibly. The German POW head stones in the Hampton cemetery look identical to the head stones of the U.S. personnel, probably carved by who ever had the contract for the work.

When I was in Germany in the mid-70s one of our gun chiefs was SSG Emmerich. I remember him telling us that his father was captured in North Africa in 1943 by the US Army and sent to a POW camp in Alabama. He said some soldiers were given the option to work on local farms as field hands. His father went to work for one of the local farmers until he was repatriated to Germany after the war. He and the farmer’s daughter had fallen in love and he applied to migrate to the US. He returned to Alabama, married the farmer’s daughter and they had several children, one of whom was SSG Emmerich.

"I think it’s part of a cultural brainwashing. “Everything you knew to be true is wrong.”"

Absolutely right. That's the objective of EVERY Communist, Marxist, and fascist tyranny without exception.

Once they've erased or rewritten the past, they can then install the tyrannical future.

From Stalin to Mao to Pol Pot to Jim Jones and every tyrant before and after. That's the formula and that's how they roll.

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez is pretty similar in background and presence to Pol Pot.

"Marxists have a habit of burning things down because their convinced of their superiority."

They need to erase history to install their "new way," which is always tyranny and often murder and genocide.

They've just gotta' get those "bad thinkers" out of the way.

14 German POWs were executed at Ft. Leavenworth, KS for murdering other prisoners and were buried at the post cemetery. They were reputed to have been buried facing west so they would not see the sunrise on judgment day.

I’m with you 100%, DO. This is not being done out of a patriotic, honorable or moral conscience.
It’s a part of the war on America.

The subtle (or not) implication is that our people respected NAZIs.

We all know that is false, but there are people out there who have no clue.

Someone should inform the clueless rather than bow down to them. And if they still don’t like it then inform them where they can file their complaints.

There is probably an interesting story behind these markers and, whether it reflects well or poorly on those who installed them, it is part of our history and should be treated as such.

I’m sure I’m preaching to the choir here.

Yeah you are, but reinforcing truth is important these days.

I agree with you thoughts there.

My Mothers first husband was killed in 1944 by U.S. Forces
....................................................
The Battle of Hürtgen Forest (German: Schlacht im Hürtgenwald) was a series of fierce battles fought from 19 September to 16 December 1944, between American and German forces on the Western Front during World War II, in the Hürtgen Forest, a 140 km 2 (54 sq mi) area about 5 km (3.1 mi) east of the Belgian-German border. It was the longest battle on German ground during World War II
......................................................
This was not my Father as I was born 5 years later. But he was buried in a Netherlands German Military cemetery and their headstones had no swastikas.

I don’t have an issue respecting those who died for their country, even if it was at the hands of an American soldier.

Those that fight the wars rarely have any say in the matter.

Sounds like a criminal investigation may be in order:

Texas Penal Code § 42.08. Abuse of Corpse

(a) A person commits an offense if the person, without legal authority, knowingly:

(5) vandalizes, damages, or treats in an offensive manner the space in which a human corpse has been interred or otherwise permanently laid to rest.

This cancel culture is very destructive, and we better fight
it or we’ll have nothing left of the nation we love.
