Trump Declines to Sign Relief Bill, Suspending Unemployment Benefits for Millions
Breitbart ^ | 27 Dec 2020 | JOEL B. POLLAK

Posted on 12/27/2020 10:56:11 AM PST by E. Pluribus Unum

President Donald Trump declined to sign the coronavirus relief and stimulus bill on Saturday evening as he pushed for higher stimulus payments of $2000 rather than $600, meaning millions of Americans would exhaust their unemployment benefits.

Two unemployment benefits programs expired at midnight on Sunday morning, as the Wall Street Journal noted:

The first provided unemployment benefits for gig and contract workers and others who don’t generally qualify for jobless aid. The second provided up to 13 weeks of additional payments to individuals who exhausted other programs that pay benefits, such as regular state unemployment benefits. In early December, roughly 14 million people were receiving benefits through those pandemic-relief programs, representing nearly three-quarters of those currently receiving jobless benefits.

The controversial bill, nearly 6,000 pages long, would also provide temporary funding for the federal government, meaning that it would shut down at 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday if Trump does not sign the bill, or another bill funding the government.

Trump retweeted a video Saturdayof a speech he made last week criticizing wasteful spending in the bill, and demanding $2000 stimulus checks rather than $600 that had been agreed to by Congress.

PDJT was negotiating and was planning on other things to build the economy in February. While he is still fighting it is becoming a rear guard action and he can no longer plan to be around in February to save the economy. He was willing to go along to get along and save the GOP leadership the embarrassment of not getting something done before Christmas.

After McConnell screwed him last week, Trump no longer needs to get along. This is realistically Trumps last chance to do something for the people who supported him.

The other possibility is that Trump wants to lay this burning bag of $hit on Biden's doorstep. If Biden steps on it and signs off on the Porkulus, when the economy goes south, which it will, Biden owns it because his name was on the last budget. His name is on the Executive Orders that create massive regulations and tanked the economy. Trump will say, I tried to stop it, this mess is on Slow Joe. I am leaning towards this being the case as old Joe is pushing Trump to sign it.

If I were Trump I would veto it. Let them go back to square one. Hold a rally on 6 Jan 2021 and the fly to Israel for an extended vacation and maybe build a new golf resort in UAE. Let Don Jr and others put together a MAGA party for 2022. Let's be honest, Trump will do better as the voice of the opposition. His rallies for MAGA candidates will be awesome.

“Breitbart has gotten even worse lately.”

I have noticed that Breitbart has changed for the worse over the last month or so.

Their headlines and stories are infected with Never Trumper slant.

A congress critter I saw on tv a couple hours ago said those requests were made before the pandemic. I don’t know if that’s true or not. For that matter I’m not sure it makes any difference if those requests weren’t formally withdrawn.

If I understand correctly he can do a “pocket veto”; i.e don’t officially veto it and Congress won’t be able to do anything about it until the next Congress convenes. I’m a little fuzzy on this. Would appreciate if someone better informed than I could clarify.

When 0bama refused to sign a bill from the Republican House, the media blamed it on Repubs.

Well hell, they always blame Repubs, even when they do exactly what Dems do...

If Trump doesn’t sign the bill, a large number of politicians won’t be getting their graft, whores and smack.

Exactly if he takes no action during the ten business days he has to sign the bill it dies with this Congress. There hasn’t been a veto to override so they are trapped.

No, it should read:

Congress insists on sending money overseas instead of keeping the charity here at home. Fraud and waste to continue under demoncrap leadership.

If Trump signs they CONDEMN him for aiding the Democrats.

If he DOESN'T sign the bill he's ALSO CONDEMNED for ignoring the WORKING man.

He's definitely up against a herd of RAT BASTARDS!

(Though admittedly the stimulus has it's faults.)

Giving the working man $2000 is the lesser of the stimulus spending evils.

In fact who better to give the money to than the PEOPLE who GAVE it to the government in the first place... WE the PEOPLE!
