If Texas turns blue, can Republicans ever win the White House again?

Let's start in 2000. That year, former Texas Gov. George W. Bush absolutely annihilated Democrat Al Gore in Texas, winning 59.3% of the vote to Gore's 37.9%. Bush won by 1.3 million votes of about 6 million cast.

Bush crushed Democrat John Kerry in 2004, 61.1% to 38.2%. That time he won by nearly 1.7 million votes of some 7 million ballots cast.

But things began to change when Barack Obama ran for president. While the late Sen. John McCain defeated the Democrat in 2008, he got just 55.4% of the vote to Obama's 43.6%. And McCain won by fewer than 1 million votes of about 8 million ballots cast.

Utah Sen. Mitt Romney took the margin back above that million-vote mark, defeating Obama in Texas by more than 1.2 million votes of about 8 million ballots cast as he took the state by 57.1% to 41.3%.

Yet President Trump couldn't match those numbers in 2016. He won 52.1% to Democrat Hillary Clinton's 43.1%. And he won by slightly more than 800,000 votes of some 8.5 million cast.

Things got worse in 2020, when Trump got 52.1% of the vote to Joe Biden's 46.5%. While a win, his margin was just more than 600,000 votes — of nearly 11 million cast.

You read that right: 11 million. That's double the number of votes cast in the state in 1996.

“Hispanic vote that shot down affirmative action for blacks in that state.”

That tells Texas Tea Party where the work is needed. Make Hispanics and blacks your target to contact and flip parties. Most of you know how they have been slaves for theft Dem. Hit the with a dinner and soften them up and educate them. Shooting affirmative Action down as an insult to them. Freedom is what they need.

So the electorate that went +6 for Trump is likely to vote to secede? Especially those 65 and up who won’t be covered by Medicare any more?

We are in totally uncharted territory so I don't think anyone knows for sure.

NO.WE.ARE.NOT. Man this is really pathetic. Have you ever read a history book?

The country seceded from GB and the South seceded from the USA. It took the South 4 weeks to from a federal govt ( state govt remained the same ) and a military. 4 weeks....

The twin jackasses Perry and Abbott ran all over the middle east, California and New York begging anyone they could find to flood into Texas. Both are buddies of Bush and had no problems with walls.

The idiots have damaged Texas badly.

First part yes. If 50% vote then they secede.

Taxes. FEDERAL taxes formerly paid to the US treasury now are collected by the Republic of Texas that will administer them as they see fit. Probably more fairly and with less overhead, waste fraud and abuse.. GET IT?

Hispanics won’t learn to vote Republican. They use welfare almost on an equal basis with the blacks. Our surge of voters has been with the ones not on welfare, which is going to top out around 30-40 percent each time.

A majority Hispanic country will look like the Hispanic countries they fled from.

if Joe is sworn in and the senate flips after Georgia run off, republicans are done. The democrat message is plain and clear, you can be anything you want to be as long as it isn’t anti-democrat.

I don’t see a state where Trump was +6 voting to secede from the union.

(And remember that all those Medicare taxes were paid to the federal govt ALREADY by the persons who were working all their lives. I don’t see the Fed Gov paying Texas a huge sum of money as they leave the union.)

Missing entirely is the real reason for Texas, and Georgia, Virginia, Nevada, Arizona, and soon more is the 800 pound elephant that no one wants to see, especially stupid Republicans - ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION!

Illegals do vote, and in large numbers. That is a fact. Democrats and their allies like SEIU, Democrats when you get in their confidence even brag about it. Throw in green card noncitizen illegal voters and you get huge voter pools that first flip an election to put democrats in charge then they make new laws (mail in voting, early voting, no photoID, same day registration, guaranteeing permanent control.

It was the scheme in California, then Virginia and Georgia, and soon other states like Texas.

Worse, Republican RINOS and their donors allowed it to happen.

Only a losing world war or a depression is going to reverse the changes. Elections are no longer factors in selecting our government.
After 244 years, the America you knew is terminal. Get used to it. There is no cavalry coming to the rescue.

You can talk to the Cuban immigrants in Florida who got away from Castro about socialism/communism-my cousin in the Miami area is married to one-those Hispanics do not vote for democrats-never have-democrat is an insult to them...

My family came to Texas from Mexico in the late 1700’s, fought the Spanish govt in 1821, then fought with the other Tejanos against Mexico in 1835-36-I’m pretty sure we aren’t going down without a fight if it all happens again...

Ok I think you are impaired? Try to follow me.

Citizens pay state taxes and federal taxes. Lots of taxes. After secession Texas citizens can either keep their federal taxes ( right, like that's going to happen ) or the Republic of Texas will then collect them and administer their version of medicaid, medicare and Social Security. Social Security is a pay as you go system THERE IS NO LOCK BOX. LOL!!!

This is not that hard. This is NOT multi variable calculus. This basic simple math.
