The United States on Wednesday called for transparency and an end to violence after Russia said it had dispatched 300 military instructors to the Central African Republic ahead of elections.
"Our position has always been that countries that provide assistance -- military or otherwise -- should do so in a transparent and coordinated way and that this assistance should support the desire of the people of CAR for good governance and stability," a State Department spokesperson said when asked about Russia's role.
The State Department said it "deplores" the rising violence ahead of weekend elections, including rebels' brief seizure of the turbulent nation's fourth-largest town Bambari.
"We call on all parties to cease hostilities and ensure the Central African people are able to exercise their right to participate in peaceful elections on December 27," the spokesperson said.
Russia said Tuesday that it dispatched the military instructors on the request of the government following a purported coup attempt.
The government in Bangui said that Rwandan forces were also assisting after three powerful rebel groups merged and started to advance on the capital.
Moscow has led a diplomatic and financial offensive in the deeply troubled nation since 2018 in return for concessions to Russian companies to exploit the country's mineral wealth, especially gold and diamonds.

Well we can't even hold “peaceful elections” where people are able to freely exercise their right to vote in America, without threats of violence, or count the votes in a free and fair manner after the votss have been cast, so how can we even lecture any country about “free and fair elections” then? The people of the Central African Republic will be falling over themselves with laughter at this one.

The Africans don’t want to be owned by anybody.
However, they will take any free money, bridges rods etc built by anyone, whether its China Russia, Canada, Germany or anyone else.
They’d be stupid not to.

Too bad the Russians didn’t come here to enforce clean elections...it would have gone much better.

Maybe if you hadn’t just spent 12 years pushing homosexuality on them, trying to launch color revolutions, flipping them the finger in Libya. Attacking their ally in Syria, and accusing them of massive election fraud in America while ignoring China thats 50 times the threat, they might listen.
They assisted us a lot in Afghanistan after 9/11.
