Trump could veto the bill, but it passed with such a large majority that the Senate could override his veto if it wished. However, Trump could simply refuse to sign the bill and due to the current situation, this would be an effective veto (a 'pocket veto).

I will assume that the person who authored this piece is informed enough to know that a Pocket Veto is a viable option. If it is, then this is a wise play. Just let this abomination die without giving the corrupt Establishment the option of a Veto override. Putting the ball squarely in the corrupt politician’s court in a very public way. Which corrupt politicians hate.

In the United States, if the president does not sign a bill within 10 days of its passage by Congress, it automatically becomes law. However, if Congress adjourns within the 10-day period and the president does not sign the bill, it is automatically vetoed, and the veto is absolute. The latter action is referred to as a pocket veto.

I looked back at the Constitution to confirm my memory. The Bill has not been given to POTUS yet. Assume it is given after the technical corrections are made tonight, the ten days begins to run tomorrow. Ten days from December 23 is January 2 because the Constitution says that Sundays are excepted. So, on Saturday, January 2, a veto could occur by pocket. January 3 is a Sunday. On January 4 a new Congress is formed, and would have to start from scratch. If there is a veto delivered, it is given to the House as it is the chamber of origin. It would take some scrambling to get a quorum in Washington around January 1. But, if they do, the Senate would require 2-3 days before voting. Then, if not completed by January 2, it is dead. The bill does not carry over into the next Congress. Timing is on the side of POTUS. Either he could sign a new bill before January 20, or whoever is sworn in on that date would have to sign it.
