President Trump granted clemency on Tuesday to 20 people, including three former Republican members of Congress and two people who were convicted of crimes as part of the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
He also pardoned four military contractors convicted of killing 14 unarmed Iraqi civilians in Baghdad in 2007, and extended clemency to several people convicted of drug offenses.
The pre-Christmas pardons and commutations came as the president has been exploring how to reward friends and allies in the waning days before leaving office next month, with more acts of clemency expected to come.

Stockman. Not Stockwell.
No word on Julian Assange yet.
oh the loons on CNN are foaming at the mouth over this
Yeah he’s doing it to “reward friends and allies”, not because it is the right thing to do. Isn’t that an opinion, not a fact?
He should pardon Hillary. They ain’t gonna prosecute her anyway.
Nothing said about Paul Manafort either.
He has been quite ill during his lockup.
Crickets!
They will ignore that story.
And they always have to throw in that he’s doing all of these things in advance of leaving next month.
I maintain we’re in the opening days of Trump’s 2nd term and that he will be sworn in for that 2nd term on 20 of January, 2021, or possibly shortly thereafter.
“He should pardon Hillary. They ain’t gonna prosecute her anyway.”
Ya know, you could be onto something there. No one has the guts to touch her, so it would hilarious if Trump pardons her for crimes that he mentions. She would be forever tainted as having committed those crimes for which she was pardoned.
Well what is the media’s response to all the voilent offenders all these leftists DA’s accross the country are releasing from prison!
Pretty weird to do these pardons if that’s the case.
Paul has been out of prison since may...because of his health and Covid being in the prisons.
Manafort was a plant.
I didn’t know that. Out since May. That’s good news.
Do presidents not do pardons between terms? I’ve never really tracked that.
Not traditionally.
And Obama pardoned 2,000 criminals who were also friends and allies.
Ramos and Compean mean the most to me
