Seven train cars carrying crude oil derailed Tuesday and five caught fire, sending a large black plume of smoke into the sky north of Seattle close to the Canadian border, authorities said.
The derailment in the downtown Custer area closed nearby streets and spurred evacuation orders during a large fire response, Whatcom County officials said on Twitter. Interstate 5 was temporarily closed in the area in both directions.
Later Tuesday, the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office tweeted that the fires were under control and the evacuation order had been lifted but roadblocks would remain in place. Fires at the site remained active, the Sheriff’s Office added, and residents were asked to stay inside once they returned home.
“Everyone’s in danger at a scene like this, but fortunately there were no injuries,” Sheriff Bill Elfo said at a news conference.
Thinking the same thing like several years ago the same thing happened on a different line through WA.
Someone please fix the title...MY BIG MISTAKE...
Train cars carrying crude oil derail, burn north of Seattle
North of Bellingham. Probably 10 miles from the Canadian border. Going to the BP refinery there.
Proud boys or Amish?? Fake terror.
BLM or Antifa?? Real domestic terrorists.
This sounds close to what those two kooky “women” tried a few weeks ago too. Messing with the tracks to force a train derailment. The left is loaded with terrorists.
>>...those two kooky “women” tried a few weeks ago too.<<
Exactly the story.
Earth First and ELF used to mess with the tracks “to save the urth, man” but I haven’t heard of them doing it lately.
Probably some antifa tards this time out.
...and they said a pipeline was too dangerous to the environment....”
Not only are libs insane...they’re also morons.
Washington has a panhandle?
Who knew?
So how did that crude get ignited?
Weren’t they the groups that put nails into tree trunks to maim the loggers?
Yup.
As well as massively pollute by burning housing developments, equipment, vehicles etc.
I-5 closed both directions from exit 266 (Grandview) to exit 270 (Custer).
Canadian border is exit 275 - so 5 miles south of the border. BP Arco refinery is just west of exit 266, this was likely Canadian crude coming south.
I assume you’re in the area. Has local media mentioned sabotage as a possibility?
Crude is actually quite volatile, depending on how many of the light end products are still in the crude for shipment. Light ends being the different forms of butane, toluene, propane, etc. Plus some H2S, source locations all vary in content.
Yes I’m up here - and I transport propane - this changed my day for sure coming out of BC.
Local news is on the other side here.... They barely mentioned those women who were placing shunts on the tracks after their recent conviction. I bet this was in retaliation for that conviction and sentencing.
When I read the story I remembered the women placing shunts story from a couple weeks ago, so no doubt in my mind these two incidents are related.
I’m sure glad the greenies keep stopping those dirty pipelines so we can keep shipping oil by rail.
Pipelines are much safer, but environmentalist whackos won’t allow pipelines to be built!
Thanks.
