When Barbara Johns was just 16 years old, she led a walkout at her high school to protest poor and unequal school conditions. The moment is one that many historians believe helped launch the desegregation movement in the US. Now, Johns -- who died in 1991 -- will be memorialized at the US Capitol, replacing Virginia's statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee.

Why not a statue of Stalin?
Because our Commies tend to be Trotsky-ites.
I actually think a statue of Ted Kaczynski is more representative of the Demonrat party today
Honestly, put Robert E Lee statue in a museum
I have no problem with this selection
okay..great..now is everything to do with Robert Byrd being jettisoned?
.....Barbara who....? who picked her to replace General Lee...? this is more bulls**t that we are seeing more and more....I lived in Virginia for almost a half-century...never heard of her she was so famous.....I do believe we are living in a parallel universe......
In 1992, the blacks from my high school all got to go to see the Malcolm X movie. It was the best day of high school.
The End.
Wrong, Math is racist.
Robert E. Lee was a traitor who took up arms against his country.
He was given amnesty because he admitted it and repented.

You’re part of the problem.
Read her wiki page — not much to speak about and with 400 plus years of history as a colony and state, this is best person they could select to represent Virginia at the US Rotunda?
That is cultural appropriation.
Why not someone with guts like Harriet Tubman or Robert Smalls?
When they put it up, pull it down. We can play that game
No it is called being realistic
Robert E Lee was a traitor to this country, sure we should learn about him in history books but he shouldn’t be honored in state capitals. Put his statue in a museum, where he belongs.
“Robert E. Lee was a traitor who took up arms against his country.”
Um, what country was that, exactly??
The Confederate States of America is who he supported and was a country. The United States waged war against that country.
same could said today about one who resists the current tyranny...
the civil war was in reality the second american revolution... the Southerners were just as noble as the American Patriots of 1776.
Yankees and their politics are stain upon the country and have been since day 1. Today, the same busy body Yankee element drags us into marxism. Yankee scum never let the rest of us live in peace.
Your greatest yankee hero isn’t fit to to shine the boots of a man like Lee.
You sound like Indiana Jones.
:^)
You had blacks in your high school?
I lived in Central New Jersey, all the blacks went to ghetto schools like New Brunswick while we went to our white landia white bread high schools, we did have a couple asian kids though. And our basketball team sucked.
