Concerns that family reunions over Christmas could spread coronavirus have led to much tighter restrictions in many parts of the UK.
Some have pointed to the US, claiming that family gatherings at Thanksgiving - at the end of November - led to an increase in cases.
So, what - if any - evidence is there for this?
What you can see from the graph is that because of reporting delays around the holiday period, there was a flattening of the curve followed by a catch-up period. But overall, cases rose by about 20% in the two weeks following Thanksgiving - about the same increase as over the two weeks prior to 26 November.
So the overall rate of growth of infections across the US has remained about the same as it was in the weeks before the holiday.

Hear hear, in CA I had a great 22 person thankgiving and expect to have a great 27 person Christmas dinner. We do not have to obey these creeps. The lockdowns and mask orders will not end until we realize this en masse.

If the CCP is to be believed, almost all cases of COVID came to an end in late May. China “only” had 83K dead from COVID then, and now it at 86K dead.
Meanwhile, the USA—which had no cases when this disease first appeared, has had 330K dead as of today.

I our area we peaked about Thanksgiving. we were warned of a post thanksgiving surge, instead hospitalizations have dropped dramatically proving once again masks and lockdowns have no effect on the spread of this virus.
