The ‘Red Slime’ Lawsuit That Could Sink Right-Wing Media (Dominion/Smartmatic Lawsuit)
NYT ^ | 12 20 2020 | Ben Smith

Posted on 12/21/2020 8:38:12 PM PST by yesthatjallen

Antonio Mugica was in Boca Raton when an American presidential election really melted down in 2000, and he watched with shocked fascination as local government officials argued over hanging chads and butterfly ballots.

It was so bad, so incompetent, that Mr. Mugica, a young Venezuelan software engineer, decided to shift the focus of his digital security company, Smartmatic, which had been working for banks. It would offer its services to what would obviously be a growth industry: electronic voting machines. He began building a global company that ultimately provided voting machinery and software for elections from Brazil to Belgium and his native Venezuela. He even acquired an American company, then called Sequoia.

Soon his company, and a competitor, Dominion — which sells its services to about 1,900 of the county governments that administer elections across America — were at the center of Mr. Giuliani’s and Sidney Powell’s theories, and on the tongues of commentators on Fox News and its farther-right rivals, Newsmax and One America News.

“Sidney Powell is out there saying that states like Texas, they turned away from Dominion machines, because really there’s only one reason why you buy a Dominion machine and you buy this Smartmatic software, so you can easily change votes,” the Newsmax host Chris Salcedo said in one typical mash-up on Nov. 18. Maria Bartiromo of Fox Business reported on Nov. 15 that “one source says that the key point to understand is that the Smartmatic system has a backdoor.”

Red Slime:

Now, Mr. Connolly’s target is a kind of red slime, the stream of preposterous lies coming from the White House and Republican officials around the country.

If the nyt says it is “preposterous” then you know it’s the truth.

I want to see them sue Mr. Wood and Ms. Powell. Discovery should be fun, I suspect they won’t do it.

I’d bet money they won’t.

The technical analyses from TX and MI are quite damning on Dominion.

Seems to me that it’s important to continue to monitor the enemy’s propaganda efforts.

Venezuelan coincidence:

Venezuela fire: Thousands of voting machines burned
11/29/2020, 9:30:24 PM · by Islander7 · 62 replies
BBC ^ | March 9, 2020 | UNKNOWN
The electoral council in Venezuela says a fire in its main warehouse near the capital, Caracas, has destroyed most of the voting machines held there. Almost 50,000 voting machines and 582 computers used in the country’s elections went up in flames, electoral council chief Tibisay Lucena said. She did not say if parliamentary elections due later this year could be affected by the loss of the machines. She also asked prosecutors to investigate the cause of the fire.

While I don’t expect everyone on FR to look at legal and technical reports/details, I just don’t see the point in focussing on reporters’ or opinion peoples’ comic book accusations

It's not opinion. It's fact. It happened.

Dominion/Smartmatic threatened NewsMax with a lawsuit and NewsMax capitulated.

If you believe there's a strong case to contest the lawsuit write a letter to NewsMax and tell them how to fight the lawsuit.

The events happened as reported. Do you believe ignoring or not knowing facts makes facts go away?

Dominion is the tool The UniParty uses to deliver what they have been promised and been paid for. It’s how they circumvent the will and intent of We the People

1611 Comments by precious readers of the Rag where you can find all the news that’s fit to print. Of course I didn’t read all of them, but the ones I did read were devoid of proof other than getting the news from the NYT was good solid proof that President Trump and anyone associated with him in any way are liars including anyone listening in on the hated internet. Oh, I did see the word Democracy at least twice, but never the word Republic, speaking of education, which was an oft used word to describe readers of the NYT.

How about a tiny taste:

“Your questions seem to provide them the benefit of the doubt that there is something other than the obvious at play. No, the majority of trumpeople are not “stupid.” But they are hateful. Perhaps not outwardly, when you meet them one-to-one, but in their hearts. How else can you explain the ease with which they will accept thousands of children taken from their parents, put in cages and then lost, many for good, in the child services bureaucracy—if they did not end up in the hands of human traffickers?

They don’t care about their leader’s lies or their representatives’ betrayal. They care that he is cruel, expresses his hatred for the same people they hate, and they especially care that he is willing to delegitimize us, to disenfranchise our votes, and enshrine their “real” Americanness in contrast to our “otherness.””

Just wow is about all I can say. That is how the left portrays the right. Another word oft used by those apparently in the education business, and folks that is exactly what public school so called, has become, Oh, the words I almost forgot, Critical Thinking.

Huge or hugh as in hugh and series. In the education world, those words have a double meaning. Critical Thinking in our world is the act of avoiding lies distortion and propaganda because your parents taught you how. In the education as a business world, it is learning that the mainstream driveby news media, and what you learn in school is all the critical thinking necessary in life.

Above all, avoid the Internet where all lies seem to start. Oddly there were those who praised the internet. Probably a twitter, and FB thing.
