A new variant of the coronavirus in Great Britain that researchers say spreads 70 percent more effectively is causing Prime Minister Boris Johnson to shutter many parts of the country for Christmas.
The new strain of COVID-19 is no deadlier than the original virus, nor does it appear to make people sicker. But it does spread more easily, and that has spooked the British government into basically canceling Christmas.
The researchers believe the vaccine developed by Pfizer will still be effective, but scientists are scrambling to confirm that.
According to Whitty, the new variant is responsible for 60% of infections in London, which have nearly doubled in the last week.
Earlier, he said “urgent work” is underway to establish whether the new strain, prevalent in the southeast of England, can cause a higher mortality rate.
“There is no current evidence to suggest the new strain causes a higher mortality rate or that it affects vaccines and treatments although urgent work is underway to confirm this,” Whitty said in a statement.
There doesn’t appear to be any large-scale virus fatigue, as there is in America. But given these restrictions, expect resistance soon.
As a result, non-essential shops, gyms, cinemas, hairdressers and bowling alleys will be forced to close for two weeks, while people will be restricted to meeting one other person from another household in an outdoor public space.
A “bubble” policy — allowing up to three households to meet up over the holiday period — will be severely curtailed and will only apply on Christmas Day, Johnson said.
He added that he “bitterly regretted” the changes, but insisted the changes were “necessary.”

Politicians across the globe are looking for a way to shut down holiday celebrations. Must be a coincidence, but all their new restrictions start just before Christmas and end after New Years. Just a coincidence, I’m sure.

I’m sure there will be a “New Variant” of Covid19 every two years in the United States just before election day.

The next phase of the moving of the goalposts game will be every 6 months a new strain and fake need for new vaccine versions with interim lockdowns so that the sheep get used to being told when to tighten up and when to loosen up. Many of those who resist will only require a little introduction to social punishment to decide their freedom is not worth the trouble.

New variant, huh? They don’t say! And it’s “responsible” for 60% of the new cases, huh? Which, by the way, happen to be “skyrocketing” again? Jeez. Better lock down again. If you believe any of this, that is.
I wonder how much they are paying all these politicians who are so dutifully toeing the scamdemic line and willingly destroying far more lives than the flu ever possibly could? Or with what have they threatened them? Harm or death to them and their families?
This will continue until the economic/social/political situation in the world reaches some unknown benchmark that was planned some time ago.
The socialists of the world have advanced their agenda on the USA about 50 years just in the past ten months.

Kinda like Microsoft and Windows, they push updates out all the time.
The Chinese bio-weapon strikes again. Haven’t heard much about a second or third wave from China have we? Could it be that Covid-19 got out of their bio-lab much earlier than they told the rest of the world? Could it be they already have an effective vaccine against it and are not telling the world about it?
And counts the number of people and their households and measures distance.
