Oregon Governor Kate Brown extended her declaration of a state of emergency due to COVID-19 through the beginning of March 2021.
The executive order was set to expire on January 2, 2021 and was extended an additional 60 days, which means this extension is effective through March 3, 2021.
The governor said on Thursday that decision was made as the COVID-19 cases and deaths related to the virus surge in the state:
As we near 100,000 cases of COVID-19 in Oregon, and with hospitals and health care workers stretched to their limits, there is no doubt that COVID-19 continues to pose a public health threat, We continue to lose too many Oregonians to this deadly disease, including over 100 reported deaths in the last two days.
