Trump approved executions before he leaves office. But, asks TOM LEONARD, is it barbaric? (hurl alert)

The crime for which Lisa Montgomery was sentenced to death is about as horrific as one can imagine.

In December 2004, she strangled a pregnant dog breeder, Bobbie Jo Stinnett, having pretended to be interested in buying one of her puppies, and used a kitchen knife to cut her baby out of her belly, whom she then passed off as her own.

Montgomery had told friends and family she was pregnant, but was arrested a day later and the baby girl was returned alive and healthy to the victim’s husband.

One might well conclude that no woman in her right mind would do this and that she was surely deeply disturbed. However, a Missouri jury rejected compelling evidence that Montgomery was profoundly mentally ill after an appalling life in which she had been the victim of incest, gang rape, child prostitution and forcible sterilisation imposed on her by her husband who was also her step-brother.

As a result, she was found criminally culpable and sentenced to death. Her execution was delayed when one of her lawyers contracted Covid-19, but she is now due — on January 12 — to become the first woman in 67 years to be put to death by the federal justice system as one of the final acts of President Donald Trump.

Those opposed to capital punishment contend that she has been ultimately doomed not by the evidence of her case but by the sadistic determination of Donald Trump to execute as many people on Death Row as possible while he’s still president.

She’s not alone. Four other prisoners had been lined up for execution during the last days of the presidency — two of them have now been put to death — in what critics have called a ‘Death Row killing spree’.

"Opponents of capital punishment, who say that more than 70 per cent of the world’s countries have abolished the practice — including every close ally of the U.S. "

Point being what here? Which btw isn't even true, Japan still has the death penalty.

He should be kinder to the Qtards.
Mostly they meant well, probably only 40% deserve to die.

‘Death Row killing spree’.

OR

Merry Christmas! to all the families who suffer every day because a dear loved one who has been brutally murdered.

UNLESS TOM LEONARD volunteers to open up his home to her, feed her, pay every cost of keeping her alive, and take full responsibility for any future crime she may commit, he has no right to plead her cause.

I see you have been here since 2012, long enough to learn the protocol for posting. Why are you passing off your comments as an “excerpt” of the original article? And why did you make up a different headline?

The way it’s done is to cut and paste an actual excerpt from the piece and to use the real headline.

Your commentary is most definitely welcome, but it should appear as comment #1.

Life, liberty and property may not be taken without due process of law.
That statement makes the death penalty absolutely constitutional

Decent odds he’ll hang from a lamppost within my lifetime. Not too bothered by it either.

Some years ago one of the heads of Japan's legal system invited reporters to visit their death chamber. She told them that she was personally against the death penalty but as it was the law she had to follow it through.

It was a respect for the rule of law that was really refreshing.
