Nolte: Fleeing Californians Could Cost State House Seat and Electoral Vote
Breitbart ^ | 12/18/2020 | John Notle

Posted on 12/18/2020 12:48:54 PM PST by ChicagoConservative27

The failed state of California is bleeding enough population to lose a House seat and an electoral vote.

There are only so many seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and so many electoral votes, and those are earned based on your specific state’s proportion of the population when compared to the rest of the country

SCOTUS says no need to count illegals. I am in Cali, and am glad about this.

You actually think someone will flee from harsh, brutal lockdowns in DeBlasio’s New York and then turn round and vote for someone who supports harsh brutal lockdowns in Florida?
How does that even compute or make sense? Not gonna happen.

I agree that it doesn’t compute or make sense. Unfortunately though it could still happen anyways. True believers never examine or doubt their fanatic ideas.

Listen, I lived in New York City for a long time, the people fleeing fastest from harsh coronavirus lockdowns are from the UWS (Upper West Side), which is almost entirely liberal.
I don't care what their ideology is, they are not voting for harsh lockdown regimens if they flee to Florida. Period.
You seem to forget that before DeBlasio, we had 20 straight years of Republican mayors in New York, and DeBlasio has been a total dissaster.

LOL just wait until Trump wins at the Supreme Court on the census case and illegal aliens are not considered in appropriation of seats. California is going to a lot more than one.

It does happen.

I have folks new to the area in NC that want NY policies in place here.

They are insane people.

I sure hope and pray you’re right. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area.
I have close relatives and friends who still live there. The liberals, who are
most of them, don’t say peep against the harsh lockdowns. They’re like sheep
who believe whatever they’re told to believe. Instead they harp on President
Trump was somehow unprepared and failed to take some kind of (always
unspecified) measures early on to control the spread of the virus.

Just incredible, and very sad.

I once heard, that if illegals were excluded from apportionment for Congress, that California could lose 4 or 5 house seats, out of the 53 current seats Calif. has in the House.

Kind of explains the motivation behind the love affair with the whole sanctuary city thing. Why encourage non-taxpaying persons to come here and suck up state resources?

Oh wait, could it be that their presence contributes to the body count for apportionment, which leads to more Reps in Congress, which leads to more dollars back to California that were lost due to taxpayers fleeing?

Could it possibly be that?! Uh, yeah.

Who said anything about it ‘making sense’?

I’ve pretty much lost a lifelong friend over this idiocy. I used to listen to her complain about things we both cared about deeply, and seemed to see eye-to-eye on a number of issues that I consider to be conservative and mainstream. I’d hear her bitch about illegals coming to the country, sucking up benefits intended for American citizens and adding to our national debt, and I’d ask her “Why do you vote for candidates who encourage and enable this kind of behavior?” Then, I was called passive-aggressive and got a stern lecture on abortion and taking away her right to do with her body as she pleases.

Single-issue voters and people too stupid to realize that they’re basically conservative, but support Democrats, can be very ruinous to the country.

If illegals aren’t counted, it could be a lot more than one.

Reading that, the real issue in this piece is that younger generations are left leaning.

Rich people are leaving for lower taxes in Texas, homeless people are leaving for the legal heroin in Oregone.
