MDC bought the handgun legally but
broke NY law in this crime. Enforce the laws we have first.
And for what it's worth, regarding MDC, in the midst of all the Paul is Dead clues, I always thought this was creepy:

(The above is not a statement of fact. It is either opinion, or satire. Or both.)

I think we have already PLENTY of gun controls.

Yoko can make a crystal wine glass shatter into a million little pieces, just like Ella used to do!

Can Yoko explain to us how gun control would have prevented the assassination of her husband...

Perhaps I’d be more convinced if Yoko were to write and sing a song on the subject.../s

In the State of NY, it is illegal to bring in a firearm without first registering it with the local authorities. So, technically, what MAY have save John was ENFORCEMENT OF EXISTING STATE AND LOCAL LAW.

she wrote, quoting the 1971 song she co-wrote with Lennon that became the best-selling single of his solo career.
I dunno about that. "Imagine" the single peaked at #3. "Whatever Gets You Through the Night" was his only U.S. #1 while he was alive. The funny thing is, "Whatever Gets You Through the Night"'s lyrics are completely at odds with Imagine's, except for the fact that God isn't part of either worldview.
"Whatever..." is FAR more interesting musically.

The murderer didn’t have a right to carry a gun. If he only was law abiding he wouldn’t have killed Paul.

Yeah, well, it turned out to be a good thing that they broke up. As four separate projects, they made way more music, and probably way better music than they could have together.
It was a net benefit in the end. They were just at that stage that it was time to break up.

RE: So, technically, what MAY have save John was ENFORCEMENT OF EXISTING STATE AND LOCAL LAW.
OK, what if Mark David Chapman BORROWED a registered gun, or was himself able to register for a gun?
What if he bought a gun from the underground ( lots of shootings in the city were from guns purchased illegally ).
