Coronavirus Erases Recent Wage Gains for Many California Workers, Report Finds(My income hammered 70%)

In the five years before the COVID-19 pandemic, low-income Californians had begun to see substantial wage gains that were slowly chipping away at the long-growing income inequality gap between the state's haves and have-nots. But the coronavirus pandemic is “likely stripping away many of these gains,” according to a new report from the Public Policy Institute of California.

The current coronavirus-induced recession has hit low-income workers the hardest, while higher-income workers, largely able to work from home, have escaped relatively unscathed. And the extent of the job losses among low-wage workers — particularly African Americans, Latinos, workers without college degrees and women

“Governor Newsom’s COVID shutdowns have disproportionately targeted those industries that provide jobs to low-income families,” said Senate Republican Leader Shannon Grove of Bakersfield in a statement. “Democrat policies have left them with fewer jobs, more unpaid bills, and less opportunity for their children.”

Definitely. Some re-employed lost up to 70% income as well. From upper-middle class to instant poverty.

40% of all Americans lost income permanently last year.

Amazon, McDonald’s and Walmart are thrilled with all the desperate new workers..

Our very own elected officials are deliberately murdering the middle class with lock downs

The “leader” class wants to put independent entrepreneurs out of business. The entrepreneurs are capitalists who think too much and despise government fascists. Small business owners despise government "regulators" and mindless angry "bureaucrat" losers.

The good news is they will soon have a flood of Mexicans and Guatemalans further diluting the job market, putting more cars on the roads, and straining schools and hospitals to the breaking point

Yup, we lost our entire fair and festival season. It is looking like in California, all fairs are cancelled through June thus far. We just sent our paper work in for Yuma and St. Patricks in Henderson, NV. Pima County Fair in Tucson is saying nothing until January.

After 25 years on the road, the Mrs and I are really thinking about retiring from most of the season and keep a few summer events in Washington State, including Puyallup.

Oh yeah....on Facebook there is a Fairs and Entertainers Group (Private)—there is a very large body of folks that made a living as entertainers at the fairs...whether it was wandering grounds acts, to musicians on all the smaller stages to magicians and balloon artists, animal acts, and even Voice of the Fair (me)...

There is a podcast that has come out during the summer talking to all the various people in the industry. I listened to my friend the fair manager of the Yuma County Fair...we were just a couple of days of leaving home for Yuma when the word came that it was shut down. In other towns, the spring fairs shut down within an hour of opening. The Big Houston Stockshow had to close at the last weekend. What a drag cause thats when most of the money is made....

The money lost by vendors, concessionaires, fairs big and small, carnivals, etc....it is a very huge hit. Don’t think it will return to normal during my last years in the industry.

Yesterday my friend who worked high up in a big fair here in California just lost her job as well as all the others from top down.
